Photographer's Note
The last instalment of The Nutcracker.
Shown here is 'Mother Ginger, a magical dancing gingerbread house' as mentioned in The Nutcracker #4.
"Everyone in the Land of Sweets bids Clara and the Nutcracker Prince farewell.
Clara wishes the adventure would never end and the Nutcracker tells her it won't end for those who have an eye to see it.
Clara awakens and realises her magical adventure is over. The guests that had earlier filled the Stahlbaums home have now left, and only the remnants of the party remain.
Dirty plates and pans are piled high in the sinks and food strewn across the room, only the mice scurry around to pilfer any leftover scraps of food.
Was it all just a dream?
Or was it the magic of Christmas, come to life?

Blue colours are strong dominant, but good contrast.

Hello Jean,
The light streaming through the windows seems to indicate magical things going on inside the gingerbread house. Clearly you took this photo before the dream ended. You did well to capture the magic in a difficult light.

Hello Jean,
I must confess that I am not much of a connoisseur of the Nutcracker story. Maybe it's because I'm not a big fan of Tchaikovsky's music, who spins out the most beautiful melodies in my eyes until they don't captivate anymore. But your extensive photo series and the explanations in the info bring me completely aware of this history from world literature.

Wow, thank you for sharing this wonderful series. I love the story, it will always remind me of my childhood as I had an illustrated Nutcracker book which I often read at Christmas time (last time 2 years ago - I keep coming back to it).
Amazing colours and well captured light.

Hi Jean,
I missed a couple of you Nutcracker shots.
I decided not to book the tickets to the ballet but instead I booked holidays already :)
So may be I will see the nutcracker next year...
For now I can just enjoy your vibrant illustrations to the famous story.
