They Are The Champions.
A day before our visit to Liverpool, the FC Liverpool football team was honored in the city for winning the Champions Leage 2019.
The Champions made a triumphal tour of the city, where remnants of it were still visible here and there.
A few weeks before our visit we were a bit worried about this day and feared if Ajax had won the Champions Leage at the expense of FC Liverpool (and at that time no one in the Netherlands doubted that) we wouldn’t probable be permitted to visit the city.
May 8, FC Liverpool had sensationally knocked out Barcelona the day before.
Ajax played against Tottenham Hotspurs, had won the away match 0-1. At home it was 2-0 at half time. Not cloud in the air and Ajax was almost certainly in the final of the Champions Leage and the “God sons” would certainly beat Liverpool.
However, things turned out differently and Tottenham reached the final by scoring 2-3 in the dying seconds of the game and still reaching the final. Liverpool quite easily won the final in Madrid 2-0.
Our visit was secured, but Ajax was an illusion poorer.

Well done, Rob!
Liverpool is a city devoted to football and yet rarely revealed in our photographs.
It's a fine series, showing diverse references to the The Kop!
Salah has suddenly altered his hair style but still walks with a swagger!
Virgil van Dijk was certainly worth a mention as a Dutch import and greatly valued as a Liverpudlian asset!
When staying at a pub in Liverpool, I asked the landlady which team she supported (Liverpool or Everton). She looked at me with utter disdain and replied,"There is only one football team in this city!"
But I had to laugh at the cheeky reference in the new Liverpool development. The development is called 'Liverpool 1'. A shop selling Everton memorabilia is called 'Everton 2'!

Hi Rob,your post is a stab for a Juventus fan like me .... ahaha ... obviously it reminds me of the elimination of my team against Ajax, while Liverpool remembers the tragedy in the 1985 final in Brussels with many dead fans . However, they are good memories from Liverpool in those days of waiting and celebration, 3 different photos with a common theme, very very beautiful! Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hello Rob,
Lots of red shirts waiting to be used by ladies ready to be included in street photos all over the city. A gentleman in red trousers can also favourably feature in a photo. Nicely bright pictures in the WS too. None of these photos would have gained from a conversion to B&W. Have a nice Sunday,

Hello Rob,
Liverpool is mostly about The Beatles and its football-club. Not much remembered from the past when this city was a major port in the UK.
Also, since the 70th the municipality had rehabilitated several societies and gave a face-lift to the city itself.

Goedenavond Rob,
Ik ben geen grote kenner van voetbal, maar volg het Engelse voetbal door de vele Belgische speler in verschillende ploegen.
Natuurlijk, Manchester City met Kevin Debruyne, die jonge is hier niet zover af geboren en opgegroeid, dus blijf ik die jongen volgen
Ik zag het aankomen dat Liverpool kampioen ging worden Jurgen Klopp is een goed trainer.
Moet wat geweest zijn de viering en als Nederlander in de omgeving zijn.
Vroeger was ik wel fan van Ajax maar in de tijd van Cruyf, Haan, Neeskens en zo meer, tijd vliegt.

Hallo Rob, Liverpool people are proud of their team however a part of the football fans in this city supports Everton. The scarves, the t-shirts and the jersey represent popular products linked to Liverpool Fc. Everyone has his favorite player in the team. The man is well included on the right. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hallo Rob,
En ze mogen zich nog wat langer kampioen noemen, want het ziet er niet naar uit dat de volgende CL-winnaar snel gevonden zal zijn. Het had inderdaad maar een paar seconden gescheeld of Ajax had de avond ervoor in de finale gestaan en het was Liverpool geweest en niet Tottenham dat de overmoedige Amsterdammers een illusie armer had gemaakt, het zou natuurlijk ook zonde geweest zijn als al deze felgekleurde shirtjes meteen bij het afval hadden gekund.

Hello Rob, Something for the football fans, I am not interested in it at all. So, I like the colours in this picture, the Workshops photos are less interesting. Once I was in Sevilla when heir team won something. It was awesome feast in the town with the triumphal ride.

A good sumarize of Liverpool central city with the stands in the main pedestrian area selling the football shirts. As in Manchester, there are 2 football teams, but the Reds are the most famous!
