Photographer's Note
Dartmoor, an upland area in South Devon.
The moorland and surrounding land has been protected by National Park status since 1951.
It covers 954 sq.kms/ 368 sq.miles.
It includes the largest area of granite in Britain with about 625 sq.kms/ 241 sq.miles at the surface.
Dartmoor is known for its tors - hills topped with outcrops of bedrock, which in granite country such as this are usually rounded boulder like formations.
More than 160 of the hills have the word 'tor' in their name, but quite a number do not.
We have had so much rain that the rivers and streams were rushing down from the hills. This is a tributary of the River Plym. Brown in colour, the water passes over peat rich land.
Taken with my iPhone.
Two more shots in the w/s.
Thanks for looking.

Hello Jean,
A beautiful landscape of the gently sloping fields and the fast flowing stream in the foreground. The curve of rocks makes a dynamic composition. The mix of sunlight and clouds is also excellent.

Hello Jean,
My first thought was "Does Dartmoor really go all the way to the sea?". The note, and a quick look at the map, tells me it doesn't, so you must have received a lot of rain for the streams to create such waves. I don't want to know what a few more decades of climate change can lead to. Today's three photos are all interesting and well composed, with very attractive colours and fine light.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Jean,
Dartmoor always creates impressions of wild, lonely places.
The moorlands are wonderful places for nature.
Your photographs surely lay testament to the unceasing rainfall that our country has endured for months! The stream, which would normally be a gently flow is surging and swirling, trying to escape through narrow gaps, and creating white water!
It looks very wild!
Love the details of the water and the its rocky banks.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Jean
I often enjoy these rustic nature scenes, the more rustic the better in my opinion. We the viewer can almost feel the power of the water as we can see it churning. very attractive WS photos as well, i'd enjoy exploring this area. cheers

Good morning Jean,
Excellent three photos from the rushing stream and its surrounding area.
A vibrant main picture with the dynamic cascade. It also seems to be men-made regulated stream to have control of such floods if occure.
Wonderful place to take an easy stroll.
Have a nice new day,
Ike

Hi Jean
I never did get to Dartmoor (my wallet with drivers licence got stolen in St Petersburg so the car rental mob cancelled my booking so had to just use trains and buses in Cornwall).
A good after the rain photo with the moor stretching away.
cheers

Bonjour, cher Jean,
J'aime ce lieu sauvage avec cette cascade qui fait un bruit permanent assourdissant.
La campagne environnante presque sauvage est reposante.
Une bien belle composition.

Hi Jean, That's a great, atmospheric and exciting take on famous Dartmoor. I highly enloy the juxtaposition of the rolling fields and the wild Plym tributary. The horizon, placed high in the frame was a very good choice. Thanx for the very informative note too. Take care, Bert.

Hi Jean
Appreciate your useful info: A most impressive composition with immediate interest in the foreground, from there on it simply gets to contrasting greyish sky and fantastic light and clarity. Looks so peaceful place to sit and rest for a while, and good to see gushing water as nature intended and not some cream foam. Certainly a very photogenic location and your photo does it justice. Congrats

Hi Jean,
I live next to North York Moors National Park but I find it not very photogenic. It is flat and there is not much one can photograph there. In your case you found a great theme here with the little waterfall making a lot of foam and decorating the foreground nicely. This makes an eye pleasing introduction to the landscape behind.
Very well spotted and used here!

Hello Jean,
The waterfall provides a strong focal point and it looks like a real washing machine judging from all the swirling white water. Excellent sharpness and framing. Tfs!

Hi Jean,
You have captured well the power of the river. The point of view is shwoing the details of the big rocks holding the shore. The colours and the sharpness are very good. Have a nice day.

Hello Jean,
At the same time a very peaceful and also a wild view of the landscape in Dartmoor.
Better be careful where you put your feet to take such a picture.
Nice series of three photos of this turbulent water in the quiet landscape.
Best regards, Paul
