By all means visit Stonehenge and Buckingham Palace, but if you want to see what real life in Britain is all about, you have to go to the pub. Pub-going is by far the most popular native pastime. The 61,000 pubs in Britain have over 25 million loyal customers. Over three quarters of the adult population go to pubs, and over a third are regulars visiting the pub at least once a week. The pub is a central part of British life and culture. If you haven't been to a pub, you haven't seen Britain.

Oh dear, I am obviously failing as a British citizen - I can only remember having been in a pub once this year!
A good photograph considering the poor light levels here but you have very nicely captured the warm and cosy atmosphere of this place with its old and comfortable leather seating. Looks like this fellow needs another trip to the bar for a refill of his pint!

The City Arms if I'm not very much mistaken. I think you did the right thing to retain the artificial light and not try to white-balance it: the effect is warmer and even more authentic. Nothing you could do about the blown highlights, but that doesn't matter either in this genre photograph.

Une scθne de la vie quotidienne dans les pubs du monde entier.Ici, l'exercice de boire sa biθre ne se fait pas nιcessairement dans la joie, comme souvent. Une bonne gestion de la lumiθre difficile dans ce genre d'endroit.

Hello Claude,
I was more interesting in going to pubs during my summer in England when I was 19 than I am today, But I still won't mind a pint in a nice place, even though I now realize that continental beer is usually much better than British. I like this well timed photo and the nice "natural" artificial light.

Simple but interesting photo from a pub. Although you wote in the note about popular format of pub here, but I can't see some active life at the moment. Perhaps they come in some later ;) Anyway I 'd like to get a glass of Kilkenny too.

I like this photo since it is natural and not retouched.

You certainly found a gem there and the typical interior oldie looks full of nice mood and relaxed as the seasoned breed of pub-goers grab all the attention, such a great atmosphere minus all the chatter and buzz of conversation.
