Photographer's Note

I grew up near Filton Aerodrome where the Concorde was test- bedded. Both of my parents worked on the airfield. There were air displays and many flyovers of unusual aircraft. Once whilst visiting my sister's maisonette in the centre of Filton (on a hill ) the Red Arrows display team flew straight towards us as we watched them from her balcony before breaking in a burst that took them across the sky - six or seven jet fighters/trainers flying at you at that speed is pretty scary!

Once visiting a friend in Lincolnshire, many years later, we were out walking when the team suddenly appeared over us and gave a complete display - we were the only people around - very special - obviously training for a big show.

Another time, also unplanned I encountered them at Southsea sea front - amazing - I took photos but the film never turned up!

This photo was at the village arts festival at South Croxton, a tiny and rather beautiful village in South Charnwood, the district I live in. The Red Arrows suddenly appeared in the sky for this fly past and then disappeared towards the city of Leicester.

Just time for one picture really before it was all over and they were gone.
