Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
This morning, my photograph shows part of Colne in Lancashire.
It is an old town, once heavily reliant on producing cotton cloth, in stone mills, with tall, elegant chimneys.
My shot shows one of these chimneys, fitting into the other street features, like a piece of a jigsaw puzzle.
Most of the cotton mills have now gone. This is one of the last remaining, a proud reminder of the town's once important history.
In my w/s, I will show a second view of this chimney. If you look carefully, you will be able to see the triangular roof, completely glass, to allow a substantial amount of light into what would, otherwise, be a very dark building.
Many thanks for stopping by,
Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
An interesting well conceived composition. I like these dark stones that are so typical of the North-West of England. I would normally clone out the lamp, but here it fits in perfectly and seems to be protecting the top of the chimney. Light, colours and sharpness are all good features here. Take care and have a good weekend.

Hi Beverley,
Unusual but interesting shot. Your framing is excellent I think, and I like how the street lamp aligns with the top of the chimney.Very sharp image with lots of details and texture too and great light. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bev,
A very fine composition in one dimension, of chimney and lightpost. I guess you had to move around here to find this angle, where everything seem to fit into you picture. But where is the W/S? But this is definitely a different kind of picture.
Kind regards

Morning Bev, (from this cold and grey morning in Offordshire). Its amazing how each see things differently -- Firstly I dont think I would have seen this shot, and if I had I would have tried to include so much more. The simplicity of your shot and the cropping brings ones eye to the focal point. I like the balance between the modern and the old. good sharp focus and lighting.. well done and have a great weekend rich

Hello Beverley,
You were clever in the way you chose your vantage for this photo, indeed, completing a giant jigsaw puzzle. A useful overview is created, together with the ws. Have a good weekend, Bev.

Hi Beverley
its really important that we photograph and keep records of these dying buildings, one day they will be gone.
looking at the brick, its very sharp, well focused, and i like the composition that juts out everywhere, and on varying height levels.
the tall light post reminds me of a puppet master jiggling the lines of the puppet below.
have yourself a great w/e

Hello Bev,
Haha, you are right - this picture and my "Two icons" have more than a lamp post in common, despite portraying different times and places! I like the way you use the angles and light to draw our attention to the chimney. The barren trees and late autumn sun accentuate the atmosphere of an old town. A great capture of a difficult subject!
All the best,
Izabela :)
