Just north of Staffin, a photo from Highland, Scotland

Photographer's Note

Just as we left Staffin, continued along the A855 road that runs along the Trotternish peninsula in Skye.
The sight from the road and across the green field of Digg, a small village at the foot of the Quiraing ridge massif, 57.643, -6.2634 on the map.
According to the attached Wikipedia link, the massif is still moving, the earth is constantly changing and road-repairs are required every year. Its highest point is rising to 543m above sea-level, and there are several hiking trails through this wild terrain.

Technicals: A cropped JPEG picture, taken through the bus window, F3.5, exp.1/400, ISO250.

Hello Ike,
An interesting and varied ensemble of residential architecture set against the green hillside. Well exposed with very good colours and clarity despite the grey sky. Excellent capture from a moving vehicle. Very interesting accompanying note.

This is a very attractive scenery, mainly thanks to the superb colours of the fields and the hillside. Nature has shown a remarkably good taste when painting this landscape. The buildings are nice too, but this photo is mainly about colours.

Here , too , not so easy to live , but not for the same reasons : a hard climate ... just good for the green pastures !
I like a lot this kind of picture showing us a picturesque hamlet of white houses in a pretty wild landscape .

very different scenery here when we compare it to the edinburgh city shots.

i like how you described it as wild terrain, thats exactly how it looks and feels.

the scene has that rustic beauty to it. really like the various colours and the up and down landscape.
the houses seem to be in very similar building styles, but still very charming. nice one

Missed this one. Looks like the original vegetation has been cleared centuries ago. They could use a few more trees for wind breaks. I like the exposed red earth or red grasses at top right contrasting with the blue grey sky. Tfs!
