Photographer's Note
It has been a very long time since I tried to post a "panorama" picture on TE and I'm not sure if this feature still works - so let's have a go!
Oh well, I think it did work - just click on the picture and you should be able to see a much larger panoramic view - but you can also see a bigger version on "beta" TE if you click here!
This is another presentation from Kinneil House in east Scotland.
Yesterday I showed some photographs of wall paintings from the "Arbour Room" of the house and today I show some of the features of the "Parable Room" which in the early 16th century was the bedchamber of James Hamilton, 2nd Earl of Arran and Regent of Scotland.
The main photograph is a triptych of images depicting the Parable of the Good Samaritan: firstly, on the left, the Traveller being attacked and robbed by Thieves, then - the best preserved of all the wall paintings - the Priest and the Levite passing by the wounded Traveller, and, on the right, the Samaritan paying the Innkeeper two pence to look after the Traveller. Other wall paintings in the series were there too but they are very poorly preserved.
In the workshop, pictures of the Parable Room itself.
ISO 2000, 1/30 sec at f/4. focal length 29mm.

Hello John,
Todays contribution really needs to be seen in the large version, but then the paintings are found to be very clear and easily understandable. It's a bit difficult to say much about your photos as such, except that they are well exposed and sharp, but the paintings are very impressive and quite lovely.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello John, well done for the 'triptych', it presents the story so well; and in the beta version the details are superb.
The style of drawing is quite different to many types of drawing that I have seen before, it seems to be an individual style. I like it very much.
As I said before, I am so glad that it was saved despite some parts that are missing.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards Jean.

Hi John, new interesting post from Kinneil house! 2 pics showing the location and a wonderful solution in the main pic to show different moments of this painting. Another time i'm surprise by the style of painting, this time reminds me a bit the Leonardo's projects on the paper...ehehe...great solution this collage and the usual top quality! Have a good night and thanks,Luciano

Superbes images mettant en valeur ces fresques murales.
Bravo pour la prιsentation et la qualitι du rendu (ce qui ne semble pas ιvident au vu de l'ιtat des murs des piθces prιsentιes en annexe).

Hello John,
A truly amazing photo of these wall paintings. Also the large version is perfect and shows the beautiful art so well and clearly and with lots of fine details. Excellent idea to present them in this triptych and the result is terrific.

Hello John,
Well done! It's time for a pat on the back for posting this!
Certainly, in the larger version, the details are very clear and it is easy to follow the story.
On looking at the details you have shared, I cannot imagine why such a beautiful, historic house should be in the process of being demolished! From the curved ceiling to the ancient fireplace, as well as these amazing wall paintings, it seems a superb house to visit and explore.
We really will have to take some time in Scotland, again!
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)
