Photographer's Note
Dunnottar Castle is a ruined medieval fortress located upon a rocky outcrop on the north-east coast of Scotland, about two miles south of Stonehaven and 15 miles south of Aberdeen. It is from the 13th century.
The 1990 film Hamlet starring Mel Gibson and Glenn Close was shot there.
About the photo: rotated and slightly cropped. Increased saturation, light, contrast, yellow, green and red tones, resized and sharpened

Great POV! Looks like an amazing place! My personal preference would be to pan slightly to the right as I almost feel like the right side got cut off. But that's probably just me. :) TFS

This is so cool, thanks for posting this, it gives a great idea of how large this these castle grounds are by including the stairs for reference, I would like to see abit more on the right too, but it is a small nitpick. I am not sure at what time you shot this photo, but maybe shooting early in the morning or just before sunset would have given the image better light and made it even more dramatic.

Hi Stef. Well it sure is good to see you again! What a dramatic and beautiful landscape that does scream Scotland. I agree with the first critique about wanting to see more to the right. If you wanted to "fake it" you could enlarge the canvas in Photoshop then use the clone tool along the right side to add more to that side. Keep them coming Stef!

Stef,
A fine capture of the fortress. I like the colors & the velvety textures of the top soil. A great POV. Regards. Latiff.

I was going to say,"haven't I seen this in film before?" And then you answered my question. I thought it was familiar. And it just has the look of something that is begging to be used in Hollywood. It has such a strength to its outcropping and even the ruins still are quite powerful. The grey sky and sea below beat on it and then all the white dots, sea gulls?, really give a sense of scale and a final set of sounds to this seaside scene. I would also agree with the getting more of the right in. And perhaps I would add some more post processing work in the way of contrast and levels, just to add more of a rough feel to it.

Hi Stef.
Very dramatic. Good pov and composition. Good job not getting any tourists in the shot also. Very hard to do at locations like this. Well done.
Regards, Steve.

Hej Stefan,
Dit is zeker het kasteel waar je het over gehad hebt? Het ziet er prachtig uit op die steile rotsen, echt een strategisch punt. :-) De bewolkte lucht doet het ook goed. Mooi werk!
Groeten,
Lars

Hi Stef.
This seems to be a really interesting place and the castle, build on its rock peninsula, is really impressive. I understand it has attracted movie makers!
As the whole result was quite dark, I have tried a ws to see if I could manage to enhance the light. I'm not totally satisfied with my work but I hope you like it still.
Thanks for sharing.

Hallo Stefan,

Hi Stef,
A stunning view of that amazing castle, much typically Scotish, that makes me dream about ancient stories of Medieval cavaliers. The compo is perfect!

Hi Stef,
It's an amazing place, I love it. Your PoV is very powerful and composition almost perfect, even though I agree with other critiques, that you should leave more space on the right.
Thanks,
Marek

Hi Stef
This is really good. This castle is really wonderful situated on that piece of rock. I like the pov, but agree with Leilani that a broader view would have been good.

Bonjour Stef,
Je dιcouvre malheureusement tardivement ta superbe galerie.
Je m'attarde plus spιcialement sur ce chβteau pour son impressionnante architecture et implantation.
Dommage qu'il soit ΰ l'ιtat de ruines.

Hello,
I also visited the place back in 2013. Than the weather was very dramatic, which I didn't mind due to the beautiful lights and the dark clouds.
Best Wishes,
Gy.
