Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
This is a photograph taken in Oxford.
It is such a busy city that it is almost impossible to take a photograph without someone walking past.
I thought I had just got this scene set up, when a guy, completely oblivious of me, stepped right in front of my camera! Because he wasn't obscuring anything, I decided to leave him in frame; he did anchor the f/g!
This old building really caught my eye!
The building constitutes 26–28 Cornmarket on the corner of Ship Street. It is a 14th-century timber-framed building and is the surviving half of a building completed in about 1386 as the New Inn. It now belongs to Jesus College which is just round the corner.
Thank you for your interest.
Keep safe, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
Having someone stepping inside your frame is a constant risk when taking photos in busy streets. Occasionally I have found that the photo turned out better, thanks to that unwanted head. I can't say that this man improved your photo, but he doesn't spoil it. The view of the beautiful building is clear and unobstructed, and maybe I am allowed to say a bit ironically that the head is balanced by the glimpse of a car in the right corner. ;-)
Best regards,
Gert

The man on left seems deep in thoughts and not so happy, Beverley.
Therefore I would try to crop this corner out and post a WS - only if you will allow me.
Other than that, a wonderful wooden beans faηade with street action, enliven and vividly presented.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Bev,
A very finr photograph from your archives - though just from last year!
This is a splendid building, especially if we ignore the ground floor with the modern fast food outlet, and you've captured it in lovely light and with fine rich colours and excellent sharpness. I shouldn't worry too much about the fellow "photo bombing" your picture in the bottom left - though he might have had the decency to at least smile!
An interesting note about the history of this lovely building too.
Wonderful!
You take care and stay safe!
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. I've had a look on Google maps and this place is very easy to see - and I think you might have got an even nicer photograph if you had moved a very short distance to your left and taken this building at its "corner" on Ship Street - see here: 51.753531, -1.258629 and have a look around with the little yellow man. Hello Bev,
I like trghe wonderful frontage with half timbered construction.
Formerly everything handwork.
You chose a nice angle with a little bit green to the left side.
Nice detailed in big format, also the reflections.
A lovely composition, perfect presentation
Very well done, TFS.
Kindest regards,
John.

the old structure received some modern details. it would be nice if they had avoided that. anyway a nice image. I ever remind my troubles there being abandoned in the city at the end of the day.
take care

Hello Beverley, you say that this is the 'surviving half' of the building, I wonder what happened to the other half?
It is a beautiful building with some lovely features.
It belongs to Jesus College, how do they use it? Sorry for the questions, just interested.
I have noticed when taking street shots, as here, that passers by are totally oblivious to a photographer in action!
Anyway, an excellent picture.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Beverley,
I immediately fell in love with Oxford when I visited the city. This is also such a wonderful part with these old half-timbered houses. You captured them in a very nice sunlight also and with a nice relaxed mood in the street also. The man on the left is actually an nice inclusion, as he doesn't obstruct anything. The contrast between the modern shops in these old houses is very appealing also.

Hi Bev,in fact it was not easy to choose whether to leave the blond boy or cut by sacrificing the trees, your choice of posting both versions was the best, so everyone can choose .. hehe ... truly a magnificent and well-preserved architecture that reminds me Alsace. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hi Bev
A good example of an old English timber framed building after all my ones from Bretagne. It has all the classic warps that such buildings should have. Great photo.
cheers

Hello Bev, The head of the guy is just in the corner of this composition and it does not disturb it. It would be possible to clone it out, but why? It is not necessary. Wonderful old half-timbered house. There is also something interesting behind the tree. I found it on the map - St. Michael with tower access - have you climbed?)
I have so many pictures from Oxford, mainly from the colleges. when I will have time to look at my archive?

Hello Beverley,
The photo illustrates the beautiful architecture of the half-timbered houses very well.
At the same time, we get to see a bit of street life.
I'm afraid the man at the bottom left suddenly came into view too quickly. But he doesn't obstruct the view in any way.
The windows reflect another style of architecture on the other side of the street.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Bev.
Fantastic composition with these three wonderful half-timbered houses, I love this construction, on my trips to Central Europe I have really enjoyed small towns with this construction style, the beautiful reflections in the windows add a nice effect to the whole.
Very interesting note about the history of the building.
The color and light management are magnificent, highlighting the beauty and sharpness of the image.
Very well done. I like
Have a good weekend.
Best regards and Keep safe.

Hi Beverley,
Muito interessante e bonita esta fachada tγo antiga. Me chama a atenηγo esta sacada toda fechada e a janela acima dela saindo para fora da fachada tambιm. No bairro onde moro hα algumas casas em estilo germanico tambιm.

Hi Bev,
I must have missed this charming house. May be t was in the shadow like here. I am visually more attracted to spots with plenty of sunshine and I may miss some great opportunities like this one here.
The guy is nicely placed in the corner. It reminds me a guy translating news into the sign language.
We have great weather again. Last Monday I ventured to Bamburgh and this weekend seems to be great as well.
Sadly many places are closed and so people have less choice and are more crowded.
I was supposed to be in Croatia this week but it seems we can sunbath and enjoy warm weather locally :)

Hi Beverley,
The presenc eof the persons is animating the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the building. The light is giving good rendering of the colours. Have a nice day.
