Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
For the present, this will be my last photograph from my visit to Norwich but I wanted to show you that the city is like so many other cities, with its street art and graffiti.
I didn't actually see a lot of graffiti but my photograph shows the differences in quality between it and street art.
The street art was in an underpass on the way down to the arcade. In the background, you will be able to see the bottom of Norwich Castle. Above it is the mindless scrawling of less talented people.
The art records buildings and happenings in the history of Norwich. I think you will be able to recognise the distinctive shape of the castle again!
I hope you have a lovely Sunday, Bev :-)

Hi Beverley,
The artists who painted the underpass added vivid colors and cheerfull object for the joy of the people useing the pass.
The "City of stories" looks as an entrance to the castle with almost 3D effect.
Have a nice sunday,
Ike

Hello Bev,
Certainly these paintings are a lot nicer than the average graffiti, although some unauthorized wall paintings also prove real talent. I don't refer to the "mindless scrawling" seen at the top of this photo. It was probably a good idea to have a "real" painting in this otherwise grey and ugly underpass. Most "scrawlers" seem reluctant to destroy a good painting.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Bev,
You took this picture with a nice wall painting.
With a lovely result with the ceiling too.
We see in Belgium also nice wall paintings in Brussels and bigger cities, not in Bruges, is verforbidden.
Very well done, TFS.
Lovely regards,
John.

Hi Bev,
The artwork is impressive. The point of view is showing the details of the murals. The light is bringing out the colours. Have a nice day.

hello Beverley, by including the scrawled graffiti at the top of the picture, we can compare and appreciate the artwork on the walls and ceiling even more! Done by someone with talent!
The mindless scrawling is a complete waste of paint imo.
Good sharp shot.
Kind regards, Jean.

a nice sample of street art here. yes, I can recognize the castle. I presume that woman riding is boadicea (or something like this) the local woman who fought against romans.. anyway she looks modern here. haha.
yesterday we have a dry storm at night and temperature fall down fast, but at this moment it is hot again. but fortunately we didn't break any record again.
take care

Beverley, that remarkable artwork is dedicated to the city of Norwich. It depicts a market scene of the past, women riding horses with a weapon maybe guards and Norwich castle. The underpass ceiling is also superbly painted, the sky is maybe represented. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hello Beverley,
An underpass like this is usually either dull concrete or awash with random graffiti, so it is always a better solution when an official street artwork is commissioned. The photo gives an excellent overview of the place and the colours, especially the yellow and green parts, stand out nicely.

Dear Beverley,
As you show us, art doesn't know boundaries. Be it a baroque castle or an underpass, it finds its way. Nicely observed and photographed.
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hello Bev,
I can remember such a richly painted underpass in Hastings.
There, too, the highlights of the city and its history are the subject of a colourful painting in the style of a comic strip.
Nice presentation,
Have a good day, Groet Rob

Hi Bev,
Underpasses usually have only some ugly scribblings. So I am pleasantly surprised to see this well thought out wall painting which represents the city of Norwich so well. And another one painted on the ceiling is not bad either. That little door is quite funny.

Hello Beverley,
Here, street artists have really taken time to create colourful and detailed paintings.
So we see Norwich Castle twice, once on the background and again in the middle of the mural.
Beautifully composed!
Best regards, Paul

Hi Bev,
Very original graffiti. I don't recall seeing one like that before. More like a comic book for children? Or unfinished coloring book. It does seem to refer to the castle in there.
I like the contrast with the ancient castle structure. Pity that we don't see more of the castle to have the contrast more pronounced. But I see you were more focus on the graffiti here.
Interesting reportage, showing yet another aspect of Norwich.

PS At the top there seem to be a signature of the artist: Boris J?

Hello Bev,
This art tells a story, and maybe it was even commissioned by the city. I especially like the top portion that represents the sky. The scrawls of graffiti are not very attractive, but at least nobody wrote on top of the actual art! Take care...

Hi Beverley
You certainly found some very interesting bright, bold and cheerful street art, a real eyecatching wall & ceiling in wonderful vibrant colours. This certainly brighten the place up and credit to such artistic people and their bright ideas! Great capture in every way - colour, comp, content and interest
Congrats

Hi Bev.
In this case and street art, it has quality and serves to decorate with a friendly touch, as if it were a story in this underground passage, those who painted on the outside are pigs who are dedicated to dirtying walls.
Excellent POV, with very good lighting, color and sharpness to enjoy the details.
Very good work. I like it
Have a happy day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hi Bev
I really noticed your newest post with the bright flowers (how could I not), but then I noticed this little gem. Imagine if all our underpasses looking like pieces of art - I think cities should mandate it immediately. this is great, it adds so much charm and character to the city. Very cool. cheers

Hi Beverley,
I left Turkey in July 2014 and spent 3 years travelling around Europe before returning to Australia in mid 2017. Good catch of the street art decorating this underpass. Tfs!

Hi Bev
This image was featured on the TE homepage today. I'm double-glad: happy for you and myself as I obviously missed it when you first posted it.
Love the juxtaposition of the graffiti castle and the bit of the real one we can see as well as the art and the "scrawling of less talented people" as you, rightly label that bit.
Lovely colours and great composition too.
Greetings from Morocco!
Kasia
