Photographer's Note
These days you would wonder why anyone would need to use an old landline fixed phone like this. I guess with the frequent rain in England it beats standing in the rain with a cell phone / mobile. Or maybe Clark Kent might need to do a quick change to Superman? Then again perhaps it's been left for tourists? These have largely disappeared in most parts of the world and have become an anachronism. The Shard tower can be seen at left.

Hello Chris,
Rather than trying to make a call from my mobile phone in a noisy street I might seek the relative silence inside a well built phone booth. Maybe that's why some are still left? Besides, there would be disastrously fewer bright red elements in the streets if they were taken away. This is as catchy as any photo could get on such a gloomy day.
Best wishes,
Gert

Bonjour, cher Chris,
Cette cabine tιlιphonique est devenue un symbole du Royaume.
Elle risque de faire l'objet d'une protection au niveau du patrimoine urbain !
Il faut dire qu'elle possθde un certain charme.

Hello Chris.
A good image with this old phone booth, which is a typical London print from a near past, I think that's why they have been left, because they are a stamp that is always identified with London.
Excellent brightness and sharpness.
Well done.
Have a good day.
All the best.
Luis.

I saw a short film on television that you could rent a phone booth as a one-person office for a few hours :)
I think it is a good idea and traditional red phone booth can remain as an attraction of London :)

Hello, Chris!
These famous red telephone booths of London must be already heritage site of the city, and this one makes a very nice contrast with the gray backgrund, which is also typical there! Beautiful capture and interesting note about it! Excellent job!

Bonsoir Chris,
La distance entre la boite tιlιphonique et le pont en arriθre-plan crιe de la profondeur. La prise de vue permet de voir les dιtails de la boite tιlιphonique, un icone de l'Angleterre. La bonne luminositι fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne soirιe.

Hello Chris, These red boxes are so beautiful and so red :). Nice composition. I have seen them as small libraries, or one can hide in them during the rain. Lovely picture.

Hello Chris,
There are hardly any telephone booths left in The Netherlands either, but they can still be found in the UK, it must be their iconic status that saves them. I really like the colour contrast of the red against the grey background. The Shard is a nice extra element in the background.

Hello Chris,
Those iconic red Telephone-booths left as landmarks across England and Scotland. I do not think they will disappear soon, though are useless with regards to phone communications. Good contrast of the red against grey.
Good afternoon,

Hello Chris
I suppose there always will be some of these red iconic phone boxes left in London as memories of the past and otherwise there will be one or the other artist creating a sculpture of it.
Excellent picture , Groet Rob

Hi Chris,
I suppose you have answered you question very well.
I do believe that the phone booths are so photogenic and your photo proves the point.
Also for a cataclysm when the networks stop to work a landline may come useful. Did you watch the movie "Die Hard 4.0"?
Nice that you included the current day modern building in the back to contrast it with the old-fashioned booth.
Lovely reportage, so very British scene,

Hi Chris
ya these are pretty much going the way of the DoDo bird aren't they, but they certainly do make for wonderful subjects to shoot.
Its funny watching Seinfeld - do you watch that show back in the mid late 90's? that isn't very long ago, but when you watch it you see the characters talking about how they can't reach each other, and they're often seen using pay phones and leaving messages on answering machines to communicate. so funny right!!!!! :)
but I think you're right, these are now tourist attractions and they're there probably bc of history and culture too. fun shot, its like a tall fire hydrant :)
cheers

Hello Chris,
We saw a telephone booth like this in Bermuda in the touristic Dockyard area, too, and wondered the same thing. I wonder how this would look with everything but the phone booth desaturated. I think I'll try it and post it to the workshop.
Regards,
MT
