Photographer's Note
Travelling on the underground (tube) between Waterloo station and Westminster. I remember Rafal (Jinju) saying once that it was raining and so he would have to shoot in the subway that day. After living in the north of England in a small village this kind of opportunity never arose for me. But living in London now has really opened my eyes up to just what can be done.
Why have I put this up? Well, it gave me the feeling that we are being manipulated and forced in a an unclear (hence the bokeh) direction. A kind of Soylant Green if you know what I mean.

I like the point of view and the blur here. The result give a good representation of a kind of urban captivity. Well done

Hello Mark,
An unusual and creative composition that makes good use the blur factor. Excellent work.

Mark I really like this ..yes, lots of unanswered questions..a bit like seeing the light...at the end of the tunnel ? Strong composition and that f1.4 really doing its job. I don't know if you purposefully selected the 'subject' but the grey clothes work beautifully against the rest of the frame. Congrats.

Yes Mark, that's a nice POV. I like your focus and the view over the guy's shoulder. The blur and the LIGHT in the bg is great. Looking to the guy's neck I thought of the vampires, but maybe it was by day. ;)
All the best,
Nino

Hi Mark,
You lost me on the 'Soyland Green', but I have to say that even without getting the clue it's a great shot! I can also see why Rafal doesn't mind shooting pictures in the subway. :-)
I was wondering, are there any rules on shooting pictures in subway stations?! I mean, everyone gets over-sensitive in these days that the words 'terrorist threat' are enough to strip-search everyone randomly... I could imagine that taking pictures at subway stations might be a bit sensitive, since at airports it sometimes also results in a government-trained-dog chewing your foot of. ;-)
Greetings, Dennis

Hi Mark,
An excellent picture!
I like so much the composition built here, really a good one.
That backward view o f the man, with the light's reflections on his shaved head, and then all the beautifully blurred arc from the train station.
It's so good the composition made, and the bright illuminated elements here.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

This is excellent. I like how all the lines suck the eye towards the bottom of the escalator, and the combination of movement and shallow depth of field makes for a strong and dynamic image.
The one sharp element, the guy in front of you was well chosen. The stripes on his shirt work well with the strong lines in the rest of his image, and it sounds stupid, but I think the fact that he has a shaved head works better than if he had hair.
Good work Mark.
Cheers,
Ben

Hi Mark. That's nice experiment in the photo, scattered lights that makes me feel there must be something ahead of him, and his bald hair(he shaves off his hair maybe) has got a good texture, but still my eyes are caught in the background. Maybe I also should stay in the underground all day long to take pictures!

Hello Mark,
The overexposure part of the composition made the composition in my opinion,in contrast of the man standing and staring to it.A very fine urban feeling to this wonderful image!
Wishes for the weekend,
Thomas
PS.You had so fine and interesting gallery,I'll be back to enjoy
more of your photos,,my congratulations!

Hi Mark,
Excellent shot! Those overexposed whites fit in just perfectly in this image. You used the DOF brilliantly and came up with an original, artistic, and very interesting picture! Great work, keep it up!

I'm too lazy to read all of those critiques above me...
Did anyone mention that this picture represents a subway in its all essence...
eEssence of closeness, limited space and ...speed !!!
There is o train there, but the bokeh you Mark, managed so and so - it plays the role of a passing train..
t could be nothing more than Sunday night syndrome, but that's the way I sse it .
Stay cool, brother

The subway offers many possibilities:) The London Tube is one of the more photogenic systems and its huge, Im sure its an endless source of photos. The rain does force us to go underground, or indoors:) Im happy to have a project now for the rainy season though:)
I like the focus. F/1.4 looks great, ofcourse thats a great lens to have, Im sure its flawless wide open.

Great shot Mark! Being a freak about transportation pictures this one clear speaks to me in a very special way. And it has that half street/half transport feeling that I like very much. The color game is superb and so is the light. Just look at that burst of white coming from the tunnel (the light at the end of it?). The exposure on the main subject's skin is perfect. Great great one. Probably among your gallery's best. Thanks for sharing this.

Hi Mark, great work.
Clearly (for me) a metaphoric statement about facing an un-clear future....but optomistic with the light waiting there at the end.
Looks like i'll have to move from my small Lancashire town to the city eh?!
Once more-very impressive.

It's like a sciencefiction movie, i like the metallic look and the special light. Great compo with the man very sharp and the blurred background . I really like it!

hi mark,
quite a clever photo i must say...normally i dislike when people photograph others' backs but in this case with this dark skinned shaved head it works perfectly...i think an important role is played by that remote shining "spot", as if a way to fourth dimension or something...

Very deep Mark:)
Well not the picture obviously:)))
I like this shot, technically great, with a perfect depth.
And it also looks very artistic with the blurred lines from the tube.
You really think about your pictures, I like that.

You have not been posting for a rather long time now Mark...hope to see more soon:-)
This caught my eye in your intro, first I saw the title...and I do find this photograph goes well with it, very good stuff. Great focus on the man, great bokeh, and a special feeling...some days I think we are heading at fast speed towards Soylent Green. I've added it to my favs. Sorry for this pessimistic note.:-)
