Photographer's Note
I mentioned in note to a previous photo that St Paul’s Cathedral is an iconic part of the London skyline, but unfortunately the view is increasingly ruined by high rise buildings. I think this demonstated in this photo. You could very well imagine what the view would look like with a forest of high rise buildings in the background. But I am not against modern architecture. I think the Millenium Bridge is a fine addition. The bridge and the cathedral is a great combination of old and new.
London Millennium Bridge is a steel suspension footbridge across the Thames in London and the linking Bankside with the City of London. The bridge opened 10 June 2000 and was the first new bridge across the Thames in central London since the Tower Bridge opened in 1894. The bridge is located between Blackfriars Bridge and Southwark Bridge.
The southern end is near Globe Theatre, Bankside Gallery and Tate Modern and the photo was taken through a window of Tate Modern.
Shortly after its opening in June 2000, the bridge closed due to pedestrians felt that the bridge swayed in an unpleasant way and Londoners called it the the "Wobbly Bridge". The bridge opened again after some modifications.

Hello Ulf,
I agree with your point about the high rise buildings we see in the distance while with your POV here you show us the London Millennium Bridge as a perfect introduction to a very fine view of the dome of St. Paul’s Cathedral.
I think this bridge is a wonderful approach to the cathedral. A POV to remember.
The many pedestrians across the bridge make this picture to much more than just a cityscape.
I had not heard before of the 'Wobbly Bridge'.

Hej Ulf,
This is a great way of viewing the St Paul's. It is really a spectacular bridge of a kind that would never, never be built in Stockholm. Or at least not until after 40 years of discussions. Architecturally the old cathedral has received some competition from this bridge, whereas the rest of the river front is not so pretty.

The great perspective of this modernly designed bridge leads the eye to the even greater old-style architecture in the background. Despite the difference of the architectural styles, the foreground and background harmonize each other very well. Excellent point of view, interesting composition and highest quality!

Well captured Ulf!
I tried myself to take the same photo from the same pov but there was no sunshine like here and too many people all around me. This one is vibrant with light and I like the fine symmetry.

I like very much the symmetry here. Combination of the bridge and the dom of the cathedral look very impressive and indeed is a nice contrast of the old and new. Excellent architecture both of the bridge and the cathedral it is a wonderful view from a well chosen POV. I have to try that next time in London
