Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
I have enjoyed and critiqued quite a lot of autumnal photographs, this year, and have probably quoted that I didn't get a chance to show the autumn leaves, this year!
The leaves were late turning brown and orange and then, we had several says of very strong winds! The result, no trees with autumnal colours.
So this is my contribution to autumn, naked trees and leaves on the floor but I hope you will still enjoy the scenery.
I will add a second photograph, looking in the opposite direction, as a workshop. Maybe I should have posted this as the main shot!

Hello Bev,
It must have been a disappointment to be cheated by the weather of the finest autumn colours. But these colours are also nice, although less bright. As happens now and then I have a preference for the WS photo for the less "cramped" view and the somewhat clearer light. The strangely twisted tree standing alone on a carpet of brown leaves gave you a fine foreground with a kind of artistic touch. Behind it we get a clear, good view of the hill.

Hello Bev,
Of cours the oak and beech have in Belgium yet nice leaves,
but maybe are the trees a little bit other than here.
During my bike trip two hour ago I've seen much autumn colours.
But I find your autumn picture pleasant to look at, without the autumn colours.
Real a nice nature image.

Oak and beech trees are very exotic to me. Perhaps they have some in elevated areas of Australia or in Tasmania? Anyway they look great. Good sharpness and framing too. Tfs!

A lovely countryside and different trees in this view , but what makes the difference here , is the beautiful sky . With this light , this is a splendid composition .

It looks like a real autumn day at the end of the season, when the many beautiful leaves have either turned completely dull and brown or have fallen off entirely. But it is still a great landscape with an attractive sky with large clouds and some bits of blue.

Hello Beverley,
I believe you made the right choice for your main picture.
I like this composition with the leafless branches of the tree that point to the upper part of the photo where we find a wonderful piece of sky.
Where I live, not all leaves have fallen yet. But the autumn hues become more beautiful on the ground than on the branches now.
I've often wondered why the same two trees growing next to each other don't lose the same amount of leaves at the same time. There can then be no difference in rainfall received and yet one loses its leaves faster than the other. Does that one catch more wind ???

In spite of the lack of leaves these are still two beautiful photographers and there is plenty to look at. The autumn colours are there, more subtle than those of the leaves would have been maybe but they are. And the branches create wonderful patters that would not be visible with leaves on.
I love the stormy sky and the contrast.

anyway a nice view of the area with the trees in evidence and the autumn mood very well marked. I remember when a tornado hit my town in the autumn of 1992 my persimon tree was covered with golden leaves and in few minutes all of them were took away, but the tree hadn't suffered damages because it lost these leaves,

Hi Bev,
Yes, I know what you mean. With the weather being predominantly unpleasant on the weekend days, I have also missed the moment of colorful trees, and it is impossible to catch up. Even though formally it is still autumn, the photos taken nowadays don't substantially differ from the winter.
Having said that, the pictures which you presented are beautiful. Cloudy sky but with some clearance as well. Lovely rural scene with a lot of vegetation in the cold season already and some traces of civilization like the fencing or the sheds in the distance.

A delightful photo where nature is full participant, ideally this large tree in the foreground, which gives a beautiful graphic with its leafless branches, just as we see those in the background, however this small fir? puts its perfect note of color.
Sharpness, lighting, color and magnificent composition; all are perfectly realized factors in this beautiful image.
