Photographer's Note
During a hot July evening an area of violent thunderstorms moved north across Southern Britain and the Isle of Wight, i was about to leave for London to pick up Ross Williams (world class wind surfer) but decided to catch a later ferry.....and am i glad i did! I set up the tripod on the sand and took a few shots as the storm moved closer, but realising the storm was almost on top of me i decided i would need to take portrait shots due to the lightning bolts being out of frame and i was using an 18-28mm lens, i hoped sooo much that a strike would either hit the pier or come down behind it, and it did! I have a few more from the same evening too that i will upload soon.
I have just realised i have uploaded the un-straightened version......oops!

Nature is wonderful and enigmatic isnt it?
Thanks for sharing this photo. the colcours are intense and sharp. I especially liked the detail of the photo. one can clealry see even the faintest branches of lighting adding to the marvel of the phenomena you witnessed. Also the foreground and the pier provide excellent contrast to the intense blue!!! For me its just perfect. COngrats for the shot!

Hello Jamie,
To have tried to catch same kind of photos, I know it is really not easy and your one has a very good centring!
More than this, the exposure allows to see details on the ground. Thanks for sharing,
Yves.

Hi Jamie,
That's a stunning shot and I'm dead jealous. I particularly like the reflection in the foreground water and the strips of gold from the pier and beach.
