Photographer's Note
Portsmouth is a port city and naval base on Englands south coast, mostly spread across Portsea Island. Its known for its maritime heritage and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The dockyard is home to the interactive National Museum of the Royal Navy, the wooden warship HMS Victory, where Nelson died in the Battle of Trafalgar, and HMS Warrior 1860. The Tudor ship Mary Rose is also conserved in a dockyard museum.

Hello Erica,
Welcome to the TE community, we hope to see lot's more of your photos.
Fabulous composition upon the "firey" sky over the tall masts in the port.
Good contrast from the already dark lower part of the harbour.
One remark though: most effective is to post pictures with 1100 / 1200 pixels of size, this looks as small KB image. Greater Kb and/or pixles picture will be reduced by the site auto-post to relative same size photos.

this is all about the colours in the sky, very dramatic.
its eye catching for sure. Usually we wouldn't leave to much space up top, as its empty, but when the colours look the way they do its understandable. Funny to have the contrasting modern lights next to the old masts :) cheers

Hello Erica,
As soon as I saw this picture I wondered whether it was Portsmouth, and indeed it is! We have visited this dockyard twice recently and enjoyed it enormously. How lovely to photograph it against such a dramatic sky.
