Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone,
THis is a wider view of the ford at Upper Slaughter, which I posted yesterday, and links the road to the houses.
I would like you to particularly notice the big house. The building to the right of the house, now a separate dwelling, would once have been the barn attached to the house.
The house was once an important house, in Medieval Times. I will add a workshop showing a closer view and details which will explain how we know it was important.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Bev
A good angled point of view on the rustic cottages with wonderful reflections in the Ford. The foreground plants add depth and layering to the composition. Thanks for sharing.

Bonjour Bev,

Hello Bev,
Today's main photo is a real cliffhanger: "Wait for the exciting revelation in the WS". ;-)
Both wider views are very attractive and the other one could also have done well as a main upload. Minus reflections but including a human presence (Chris, isn't it?). I really like the WS with the beautifully designed dovecote (-cot), and it also forced me to (once again) look up the difference between a dove and a pigeon. It seems there isn't any, except linguistically, dove being derived from Nordic languages ("duva" in Swedish). Other distinctions are contradictory and seem to be made up in peoples' minds.
Kind regards,
Gert
But what's the difference between a cote and a cot? ;-)

Hi Bev
I think this must be the most 'postcard' style of photo you've posted from Slaughter, and certainly the most picturesque and 'pretty' - nothing wrong with that :)
Man...i want to see interior photos, but what can we do right?
They're so old, I wonder how they're constructed..i imagine a large stone fireplace. sweet shot Bev, very attractive with all these blues and greens. Very nice! cheers

Hi Bev,a beautiful country house, example of the architechture of the past and very well preserved. It's interesting to know that the old barn on the right is now a part of the house, and the pic is lovely,a full view perfect to understand! Useful WS too showing the details in closer views. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Beverley, that house played an important role in the Medieval times. It is located in a green countryside. A stream runs along the domain. Good weather and luminosity, perfect sharpness.

Hello Beverley
Two excellent pictures of the old manor. While the main post showcases the beautiful surroundings and the water body, the WS is equally attractive and an excellent composition with so many interesting details. Your notes are informative and make interesting reading too.
Cheers!

Hi Bev
A great view of these houses and ford.Well composed with great detail, especially in the large version. Looks like another neat place tucked up at the back on the left. Interesting note about the pigeons. In lots of countries everyone was able to keep them.
cheers

Hi Beverley,
The small ditch filled with rain-water would prevent un-wanted visitors to cross over to the "importent:" house.
Yet, a lovely main picture, beautiful green front yard to what was a barn, and a nice comple4metaries on the WS's.
Have a nice new friday,
Ike

Hi Bev,
beautiful series of photos.
You had such a lovely weather over there. It made the colors so well pronounced. The sky has such nice subtle touches of white clouds as if touches of an artist's paintbrush.
Very pleasurable effect.
Have a great weekend,
M

Hello Beverley,
Excellently composed with good depth.
Very nice with the water and the few flowers on the foreground. I also like the view of the green hills on the background and the soft cloud lines in the sky.
I guess you will have hesitated between this picture and the first one in the WS to choose as main upload.
Very charming place!
Best regards, Paul

Ciao Bev
θ una fortuna che queste abitazioni rurali siano state riutilizzate insieme agli annessi, in questo modo possiamo ancora oggi vedere queste splendide costruzioni.
Belle foto, bel luogo.

Hello Beverley, Charming old house and a small pond. I like the stone walls and charming shingle roofs. I can spot the wisteria creeping on the walls. Nice reflections.
Kind regards Malgo
