Photographer's Note
This distinctive terraced crescent is on the seafront in the City of Brighton, East Sussex, England. The houses were built in the late 18th and early 19th centuries and it was the first Brighton development specifically built so as to face the sea. The grand scale was to attract middle to upper class tenants as it became fashionable and therapeutic to spend time by the sea. The buildings are Grade II listed and have had many famous tenants over the years including Sir Laurence Olivier who lived at No.4.

Hello Brian,
A fine interesting note and a very attractive picture with which to illustrate it.
An exellently composed shot, the line of the terraced houses entering from top right leading the eye throughout the frame to the rows of chimney pots on the left and with a lovely foreground of fine rich green foliage. Perfect exposure, a lovely sky and, as always, exquisite sharpness.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Brian - You have captured the sweep of the crescent well and although the colours are not your usual vivid palette the excellent saturation and contrast are there. I particularly like the three distinct and classic-looking layers, they suit the formality of the architecture very well. Warm regards rosemary

Hello Brian,
Punchy light contrasts with good sharpness & graphism. Well composed with the curving contours of this imposing building starting / finishing in the top right corner. A good wide angled crop & superb sharpness. Tfs!

Hi Brian
a fine capture...too bad there weren't any clouds in the sky to buffer the light a bit, but thats not your fault :)
these row homes surely define 'repetitive pattern' !
but i like how they look, especially with the warm light striking them. One can't help but wonder what is the view the look out onto.
excellent light and colors.
cheers

Hi Brian
An infrequent visitor of late, I am pleased to have tripped over this little unassuming gem !
I like the shapes you have drawn for us, sweeping from the carefully plotted TRH corner through, the thirds working overtime to give a classic view of a classic buiolding.
Your note intrigues me, times gone by builders building for rent rather than the modern trend for sale. And now, it almost seems the wheel has turned full circle, as houses become too expensive to buy again..
Fascinating
kind regards
Martin

Hello Brian,
You have done Brighton proud!
Who wouldn't want to live here?
Maybe you should offer your services to an estate agent, in this difficult housing market, as you make the houses look much more attractive.
Your excellent pov has recognised the three distinct layers, with an attractive curve, which leads naturally from right to left. A great dof.
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hi Brian,
Really nice image, and a nice place to live. The shrubbery in the lower half frames it really well and gives a great sweeping thirds effect in conjunction with the sky. I see occasional images here on TE, it looks like it is filled with wonderful architecture.
Thanks
Noel
