"It is a well preserved example of an old granite built farm building. One of several abandoned farms on southern Dartmoor.
The farms were evacuated when Burrator reservoir was built at the end of the 19th century.
The farms were all very similar, being built from granite collected from the area.
The houses were small with an outbuilding being very close to the house."

Such a sturdy building, with dressed stone and strong lintels; it would have been built by an experienced mason I presume.
Note the plants now growing out of the walls.
Two more views in the w/s.
Thanks for looking.

Hello Jean,
Those who built this must have done a good work, considering the carefully laid stones. But I get a bit confused: Was this actually the house where the farmer and his family lived? Or was it a cow-shed or a place to store hay or equipment? I wouldn't have liked to live here. Three puzzling but very interesting photos, and the enlarged versions show the good quality,
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Jean,
A wonderful example of how nature has slowly been taking back control of the man-made structure since it was abandoned. The old walls are now largely covered by plants, whose slightly darker tones make them stand out well from the background. Well captured from a good angle.

Bonjour, cher Jean,
