Photographer's Note

'Large leaping hare', a sculpture by Barry Flanagan.

Barry Flanagan (1941 - 2009) was a Welsh sculptor, best known for his bronze statues of hares and other animals.

This sculpture was placed beside the canal pond in the grounds of Chatsworth House, which can be seen in the background.
You can also see the Emperor Fountain, a picture of which I shared with you recently.

This was the 2006 exhibition held by Sotheby's at Chatsworth.
In their press release the sculpture is described:-
"From an edition of four, it was one of the first leaping hares Flanagan ever made in this scale.
'Soaring through the air at above head height, there is a feeling of freedom and movement that surrounds the gravity-defying, outstretched limbs of the jumping hare.'"

This was the best angle that I could achieve, as I wanted to include the house in the background.

Thanks for looking. Keep safe.
