Photographer's Note
Today is the International Women's Day. It is celebrated in some countries more than in others. I don't think people are aware of it in the UK at all, but in the Slavic countries, like Poland or Ukraine, it is quite popular. I always forget about occasions like that here but yesterday browsing again through my photos from Ukraine, I found this lovely detail. I thought I will share here this attractive male body with the dedication to women. Sadly, it is quite a terrible time for Ukrainian women. I have read an article today which said that many of them decided to stay and fight in the war, but those who have little children are trying to find refuge away from the war. Over Million women and children crossed the border with Poland already. I hope they will find a safe shelter there. The photo is black and white mainly because the colors were washed out but it made me think about how many Ukrainian men will be killed in this war, and how many families will end up without their fathers. This man in the statue indeed looks as if he was struggling to hold a heavy burden on his shoulders.
The photo presents a fragment of a decorative entrance to the House of Scientists (Будинок вчених) in Lviv. Google Maps says it is an "Opulent 19th-century neo-baroque building & former aristocratic casino, often used as a film set."

A good photo from Ukraine to celebrate International Women's Day. The sculpture stands out so well from the grey wall and the sidelight highlighted the details very well too.

concerning International women s day celebrated

Bardzo dobry pomysl na post na taka wlasnie okazje. Niestety, na wojnie cierpia wszyscy, zawsze sobie myslalam, ze wojna to jest najgorsza rzecz, jaka moze sie przydazyc, zarowno krajowi jak i jednostce.
Kiedy wczoraj jechalam z lotniska do domu, na stacjach kolejowych pojawialy sie napisy na tablicach wyswietlajacych godziny przyjazdu pociagow: "Int'l Women's Day". Ale to wszystko, w supermarkecie zadnych specjalnych ofert jak np. na Walentynki, a na polkach kroluja juz zajaczki wielkanocne.

a nice homage to men and women in ukraine. here we have some celebrations to women, but I guess it is not fair the day of the men weren't so celebrated too, as if we don't deserve it or as these celebrations is a matter of women only.

Hello Mariusz, yes I did know that it was International Women's Day.
This is an excellent shot. The b/w was the perfect way to present the sculpture, all the details are clear in this bright light.

Good morning Mariusz,
Saw the spot where this atatue, along with a similar one, mounted on both sides of the entrance to the neo-baroque building, as mentioned.
I could understand the B&W format, but wonder why did not take a wider scope with both statues.
