Photographer's Note

A rotunda on a building in Lausanne's Centre Ville, near the Place St-Franηois. This particular building now houses the offices of a financial institution. The view from the cupola would probably allow one to see many kilometers into the distance across Lake Geneva.

The architecture of the older districts of Lausanne has often been compared to that of Paris (though on a much smaller scale, Lausanne having a population of only about 130,000 people). One difference is that virtually all of Lausanne is situated on a steep grade, at the bottom of which sits Lake Geneva.
