Photographer's Note
A few hours’ walk on from Oeschinensee and about a kilometre higher in altitude, I took this on a short break sitting on the bare scree slope and looking back along the route we had just trodden. Although bare in appearance, every so often between the stones there were beautiful, brightly coloured flowers which appeared to grow from nowhere. On the left you can see part of the Blόemlisalp Gletscher creeping its way towards the valley, and a small glacial lake which doesn’t seem to have a name. On the left are some interesting ridges which form the pathway for walkers. Further down and long since out of sight is the lake of Oeschinensee which I’ve featured in earlier postings.
I was shooting directly into the sun here, but I was quite pleased with the effects of light and shadow across this breathtaking landscape, and of the clear visibility into the distance.

Magnificent scenery!! Almost Wagnerian!! Perfect handling of the light. The blue sky gives just enough light to the picture.

Wondrously nice shot of the alps and sky, Susanna. Good clarity and sharpness, nice contrast between the mountains and the magnificent cloudy sky. Bravo!!

Hi Susanna
Good exemple or glacier valley, very well captured. The sky seem to be very cloudy and perharps storm explode in few minutes.
Very nice mountains landscape.

Hello Susanna,
Awesome scenery indeed, and excellent quality photograph, as ever.
I do think YOU could have made a better composition here though - but probably you were tired from the climb and wanted a sit down! :)
I bet your 10mm lens would catch an incredible view from over that little ridge ten feet into this photo? Perhaps that comes later!
Regards.

I enjoy how this captures the feeling of the high mountains. There are few pictures that can really portray the intensity of the weather, air, and conditions at altitude. Good work.
