Zytglogge

The Zytglogge, Bernese German for Time Bell, is one of the most prominent landmarks in Bern. It is a medieval guard tower, prison and bell tower, built in the 13th century. It has since been redecorated and renovated several times and in the 15th century an astronomical clock was added as well. It stands at the end of Kramgasse, the main street in Bern’s Old Town. Even though the overcast sky makes the photo less attractive, at other moments and from other angles it was even harder to get a good and clear view of the tower, thanks to the many overhead wires for trolleybuses as well as backlight.
