Photographer's Note
During this unusually cold spell I took a stroll around my local castle and I thought I’d post this new view of a place which I’ve shown a few times already on TE. Temperatures have been well below zero for the last week or so and the ice in the moat is thick enough to stand on – at least I saw a couple of people walking on it but I was not planning to risk it myself! This corner of the moat however remained unfrozen and gave a nice reflection of the castle.
The castle itself dates back to the second half of the 13th century but has undergone various transformations and embellishments over the centuries. Since 1957 it has been owned by the local authority and is a listed building. Inside is a very nice restaurant where I had the pleasure of dining on Friday!

Hi Susanna, and best wishes for 2009! Good choice of shooting angle to show this view of the castle. The part-frozen, part-open water surface delivers an interesting semi-reflection, and the exposure is well managed to render lots of detail.

Lovely architecture of the castle.

Also you bring a winter scenery in front and with a nice reflection and the thin ice makes it a very nice shot. I maybe expected a snowscape landscape, but this also looks very nice.

Beautiful winter shot of the castle. You chose a good angle, not only for showing two facades but also the half ice/half water side of the moat, enabling the attractive partial reflection. I am also drawn to the shadow patterns from the trees on the white walls of the castle.

That's a very pleasant and beautiful photo!
Excellent exposure, sharpness, pov and composition! I specially like the reflection on the partially frozen lake! The architecture of the building is interesting and nice as well!

Hi Susanna
You're local castle is so cute, especially having a moat just like in fairy tales. I met the meal was delicious. Although it might have been an idea to lower yourself to avoid having branches over the castle, the eye is more drawn to the beautiful reflection.

Je trouve que ton chateau prefere ressort tres bien sous ce nouvel angle, l'image est tres bien exposee pour faire parler les hautes lumieres,et il y a une belle reflection.

Ahhh, I know this place! With that same image, but with a dark sky and a wonderful rainbow I discovered your gallery. The view through the branches framing the castle and the partial reflections this is another stunning view. You really should submit your shots to the Gemeindehaus Bottmingen to get these images used on their webpage, brochure, etc.
