Photographer's Note

This is the 'Batiment Des Forces Motrices', that has a wonderful architecture.

I made this few minutes after sunrise, it was very cold but without wind and I caught the reflections in the water

In the WS I put another picture of this building after the sunset. Which do you prefere ?

Location: Place des Volontaires

A fine example of 19th-century industrial architecture moored in the middle of the river, Geneva's second opera house was built in 1886 by engineer Thιodore Turrettini to supply drinking water, harness the river's energy for local industry, and keep the lake level steady. Restored and converted to a 985-seat theater in 1997, it now hosts the overflow from the Grand Thιβtre as well as classical concerts by the famed Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and traveling productions. The cavernous L-shaped lobby has retained two of its original 18 turbines.

Hi Aires,
The building has beautiful architecture which is wonderfully duplicated on still water. Excellent light. I prefer this version, as a bit brighter it shows those details more clearly. I was wondering why it was so close to water before reading that it used to be a power plant!

this building has really a fine architecture but shot at that hour, with those marvellous colours and reflections, becames a masterpiece. I like the long perspective that gives a good dynamicity at the photo.

Bom dia Aires, prefiro esta sem sombra para dϊvidas, pois ι uma perspectiva mais pura numa imagem mais limpa. A outra atrai pelo cιu azul e pelos detalhes da fachada iluminada mas tem alguns elementos que interferem, o que nγo acontece aqui. O comprimento do efeifνcio e a dupla imagem reflectida fazem uma imagem fantαstica.

This is a great early morning blue hour shot! The angle of the shot is great giving the shot a nice sense of direction. The reflection is great adding nice depth and balance for the shot. The blending of natural and artificial lighting was managed perfectly here.

Hi Aires! With this general blue color and light, even more. You captures very well the beauty of this town. The warms lights are too a symbol . Prospect is really beautiful! Perfect reflection! The water is so calm and clear that this looks almost like a mirror image. The reflection helps to enhance the angle of the view, so that it looks smaller as we look into the distance. Nice work!

Para ser franco, gosto mais das cores aqui e do PdV do WS.
Mas o mais interessante ι o que dizes sobre o aproveitamento do espaηo. Passar de ums instalaηγo de fornecimento de αgua a uma sala de concertos ι qualquer coisa que certamente nunca esteve a ideia do arquitecto. Mas ainda bem que assim ι e que nγo se deixa ir ΰ ruνna patrimσnio nacional.

Can't say which one I prefer as both are good. But if I
really had to choose one, it would be this one - purely
because of the layout and reflection (and there's just a
wee bit less dark areas than in the WS one).
Good colour contrast.
