Photographer's Note
These flowers took me by surprise when they popped up in the beginning of november. When I told people about it they said that this is a rather common flower (don't know the english name, for swedes: "Hφstkrokus" (?)) but I was still fascinated that new flowers could come up when everything else was dying. This is taken just round the corner from my home.
I have no idea what I thought letting that brown branch hang in the way of the flower. I do like that there is only one flower standing and all the others are fallen (not arranged). Had I known that I would get this good colors and light I would have taken a few shots more and composed a little more carefully. I don't have a macro lense though, so I don't think I could get much closer.
The only editing was removing some dust particles and adding contrast and a little more red, and of course sharpening after resizing.

I think this is a great picture, combining the warm colors of the sun with the cold of the flowers. The flowers in the back look almost flourescent.
very well seen.

Quite lovely lilac, I might crop one half of the right trunk off the tree, to enhance the composition

Nice shot, with the contrast between the dead Autumn leaves, and the new flowers.
In English, these flowers are called Crocus (pronounced the same as the 'krokus' part of the Swedish Hφstkrokus) - these usually flower in spring, but I think there is a winter flowering type, which must be what you've photographed here.
