Photographer's Note

This playground on Sφdermalm was actually opened in 2012, but it is designed to give the children an idea of life on the island 150 years ago. It was inspired by the novel 'Mina drφmmars stad' (City of my dreams) by nationally famous writer Per Anders Fogelstrφm describing the lives of poor working class people on Sφdermalm between 1860 and 1880.

According to Wikipedia parents are encouraged to explain to the children the history and functions of the buildings recreated here. There is a small cobbled street, a miniature version of a once famous bar (no alcohol served now), a forge, a primitive outhouse (no pooping possible now), etc.

This playground is located in an area slightly "off" my usual routes, but I have come here occasionally and always wanted to take photos. But old men taking photos of playgrounds are likely to make people suspicious, and the photo angles are a bit difficult anyway.

However, a couple of weeks ago I managed to take this photo of a mother watching her mobile phone while hopefully also watching her child, maybe the little boy in front of the red cottage. The yellow building is a replica of a textile factory torn down long ago.

There are two more photos in the WS. The Map: view will take you here. You can enter the Google car and see the playground from three sides.
