Photographer's Note
UPDATE: this was during sunrise (which was 03:25 in Stockholm - I have no idea why i was awake). ISO 400 (not sure why i was running such a fast speed) ornis - it was indeed 1/4000th (i remember how badly i was squinting, it was painfully bright). i shot the same picture at all sorts of f-stops, including 1/90 at f22, but it didn't look as nice AND the wide DOF showed what a mess my lens was. PiotrS - no flash, just a really low and bright sun. Thanks for all the feedback!

I really like it! A nice opening shot, welcome to TrekEarth! Your choice of DOF is excellent, it ensures that the shot isn't cluttered by background details, but I love the patches of colour there.
The light is interesting. Did you use a flash here? The sky is very dark for a sunrise. I notice the fast shutter speed too.
Composition is very good, with a good balance between foreground and background. Good work.

Welcome Jason. You've got pin point sharp and blurred parts exactly where it should be. Superb colors and an attractive item here...the cross is going up while the light is going down. No symbol, just a very well balanced contrast. Are you sure of the 1/4000 speed, ;-)?

I love the smooth liquidity of the blurred background. Wonderful colors between front and rear. The touch of blue really sets up copper colors! Great POV. Sweet photo!
