Photographer's Note
Built by the Almoravids in the ninth century at 438 meters high, it was Arab until in 1263 Sancho II of Portugal conquered it and was completely rebuilt in 1293 by Sancho IV going to the crown of Castile. It had great importance as a border defense belonging to the so-called Leonese Galician band.
A first belt of defense constituted the castles of Aroche, Encinasola and Fregenal, and already, in a second belt, were those of Cortegana, Torres and Cumbres. Greater.
The castle of Aroche was one of those built by the Council of Seville using the authorization granted by Sancho IV in 1293. Located on the highest part of the hill that serves as a seat to the town of Aroche. Towards the Southwest the access to the castle was located, conserving a pointed horseshoe arch and framed in an alfiz. However, from the 18th century onwards, you enter through the Southeast, through the popular Calle del Castillo.
The castle is cited as property of the city of Seville in the "Ordination for Good Government" given by Alfonso XI in 1344. Testimonial property that, interestingly, is currently maintained, because when the province of Huelva was created, Seville ceded the territory, but not the same strength happened with the castles of Cortegana, Encinasola, Almonaster la Real, Cumbres Mayores and in Seville Alcala de Guadaira.
Its enclosure is 98 meters long in the Southeast-Northwest direction.
Its plant is a right triangle with the hypotenuse in a curved shape. It is flanked by ten square towers 4 to 5 meters outside the wall: the largest are in the three corners of the enclosure. The towers are devoid of chambers, except for the west and the one on the left of the main access, which are covered with barrel vaults; It also has a round walk.
It houses. since 1802, inside, a bullring that is still in use.

Hello Luis,
I think most of the province of Huelva is much less known abroad than the rest of Spain (with the exception of the Costa de la Luz). Probably because it's the furthest away for most Europeans (except Portuguese).
Here you show us a whole series of very interesting and beautiful places to visit.
The view of the large castle rising over the white town is impressive.
Wonderful foreground with the green and yellow foliage of the trees.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Luis,
That is a really impressive castle on top of the hill. I really like the three horizontal layers of the photo with the castle on top, the mainly white houses of the town in the middle and the green trees in the foreground. Well done.

Hello Luis,
This is an enormously impressive castle. It's so huge and it's so dominant from its place at the top of the hill. It looks completely impenetrable. Below the castle is a very nice section of white buildings with brick roofs, before we enter the green and orange area of trees that bring such nice colours to the photo. It's a very striking composition from a perfect point of view, and it is immaculately exposed.
Best regards,
Gert

Hola Luis,
This is a lovely composition, with the autumnally coloured foliage in the f/g, linking so well with the colours of the castle, at the top of the hill!
The details of the houses and of the castle are really well collected. It appears that the castle is in very well maintained, proudly displaying a flag!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Ola Luis!
Absolutely uncommon with respect to the architecture, and a lovely arrangement of coloured stripes, beginning with a reddish brown at the bottom, green, white, the same reddish brown and a grey sky.

Hola Luis,
the castle left mainly the walls but it contributes a lovely element to the composition.
We had multiple horizontal layers which make the scene very eye catching.Starting from the colorful trees through the white washed houses through the wall of the fortress up to the lovely sky.
Very interesting note to read about this place.
Very well done,

Hi Luis
I'm always a fan of these shots where we have the newer modern construction and then the old historic castles/fortresses rising above them. Nice to add the trees along the bottom for a softer feel and more colors. nice shot
cheers
