Photographer's Note
Now day 1 of the race, we still have a fair wind, and we still have company. In fact we are sailing so well that we are gaining of the Russian four-masted bark Kruzenshtern.
But these are the last pictures of her for a while. We will meet again, later, in the middle of the Atlantic.

Wonderful light on the sails of this real sail boat, good framing too. I think the Royal Clipper is a real sail boat too; although clearly the passengers aren't sailors.
But those fellow that took care of the sails certainly thought they were sailors. They took great pride in the work, the were always fiddling with the sails,& there was a real bosun's locker with on-going sail repair as well.

This a magnificent shot of the Kruzenstern under full rigging. I saw her once under sail for the Belgian coast and it is a very impressive sight.
