Photographer's Note
Hello friends and colleagues, today I offer you a beautiful composition with the Ria Mayor and the Castle, in the town of San Vicente de la Barquera. I hope you like it, then some letters about the villa.
San Vicente de la Barquera is a municipality in the western coastal region of Cantabria (Spain). It borders the Cantabrian Sea and the municipalities of Valdáliga, Herrerías and Val de San Vicente. Its capital, the town of San Vicente de la Barquera, is closely linked to the sea as evidenced by all its traditions, customs and its most popular festivals. Tourism is its main activity due to the great natural and heritage beauty that the area has. 80% of the municipality belongs to the Oyambre Natural Park and enjoys a special protection regulated by the autonomous community of Cantabria as a result of its extraordinary landscape and ecological value.
There is evidence of human settlement since Prehistory. Specifically, there have been traces of the Bronze Age, such as the megalithic site of El Barcenal. It is believed that the orgenomescan Cantabrians lived here. Saint Vincent has been identified with the Portus Vereasueca of the Romans.
In the High Middle Ages, this territory was repopulated by Alfonso I in the mid-eighth century. The castle was then raised, and around it the town grew. The period of economic boom of San Vicente develops from 1210. On April 3 of that same year Alfonso VIII of Castile granted San Vicente de la Barquera privilege of villazgo, granting him the same jurisdiction as San Sebastián. last of the "Four Villas of the Coast" - Castro Urdiales (1163), Santander (1187), Laredo (1200) and San Vicente de la Barquera itself - to which Alfonso VIII granted jurisdiction, being configured as realengo. Boom was made possible by maritime trade and fishing rights. From 1330 the first norms of the brotherhood of sailors date. However, in the middle of the fifteenth century it falls into decline, due to a series of fires and pests. In the 16th century, the future King Carlos I of Spain and V of Germany visited the town when he was on his way to the plateau, to be named monarch. On the occasion of his visit a bullfight was prepared. There he got sick and had to spend the night in the convent of San Luis.
San Vicente de la Barquera was part of the Corregimiento of the Four Villas of the Costa de la Mar and capital of the brotherhood of the Four Villas of the Sea. He participated in the Boards of Puente San Miguel, intervening in the formation of the Ordinances of the Cantabria province (1779).
It was established as a constitutional town hall in 1822. At first, it was part of the judicial party of Comillas. From 1835 he had his own judicial party, but that did not cover the area of Liebana, something that does happen today.

Hello Angel,
While the focus of the photo is on the castle, town and boats, the light clouds are so nicely shaped that the sky deserves to have more than half of the photo. It's a very attractive view with beautiful colours and nice reflections in the very calm water.
Regards,
Gert

Hola,
Angel,
This is a lovely setting with features that we would love to include, like moored boats, reflections and an imposing castle!
The moored boats set a calm atmosphere, especially as they are combined with the shimmering, warm reflections of the buildings.
The castle is strongly placed off-centre and appears to be watching over the area, like a sentry.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Angel
you took this shot in the best light of the day, you can't beat that lighting :) Personally i'd like to see more water along the bottom edge, but that's just my personal choice. The sky is very pretty as well. charming and picturesque photo

Saludos cordiales

Hola Angel,
Wonderful light brought out a fine scene across the water with the small boats and the view of castle on the higher point above town.
Blue sky added great color to the whole.

Hola amigo Angel.
Me gusta mucho.
Que tengas un buen dia.
Un abrazo.
Luis.
