Photographer's Note
The kozolec (hayrack) is a free standing, permanent, vertical, open but roofed device for drying and storing goods.
It optimizes the potential of nature to satisfy human needs. This potential resides largely in the environment, local materials and man's ability to utilize them. Meeting man's needs means ensuring survival because the hayrack provides an assured supply of food throughout the year. In past times, the kozolec provided the basis of bread for man; today it nourishes livestock. The shape and type of a hayrack depends on local conditions that determine the natural potential and needs mentioned above. They are smaller and more diverse in hilly regions, in lowlands they are longer, while in regions with a moist climate they are more protected than elsewhere. If in fields, they are additionally protected against sudden downpours, while near homes they are bigger: these are double linked ones with a special place for carts and tools

Zdravo Matija!
Lepo si ujel kozolec. No to je pa čista slovenska znamenitost.
Bravo! Srečno novo leto ti elim.
