Photographer's Note

The Baroque Church of the Assumption on the tiny, tear-shaped island in Lake Bled. The has been a site of a Christian Church since C9th but excavations have shown this also to have been the site of a Pagan temple at least a century earlier.

The current church dates back to the C17th and still contains fragments of a freso from the C14th and a gold alter.

The belfry houses a 'wishing bell' which is frequently used by visitors to the church.

This place is so beautiful whatever the weather. As you can see a storm was approaching on this day.
