Trencin is located in the western part of Slovakia with the Vah river running through the city.
It is one of the oldest cities of the country and dates back to 11th century.
Current population of Trencin is about 60,000.
Trencin is an important commercial, economic, and cultural center and because of it is also known as the City of fashion. Many institutions and companies have their headquarters and branches located there. Fairs also have a long lasting tradition in the city.
The high point of Trencin is the fortified castle which overlooks the city. The exact start of the construction is unknown but probably goes back to the 11th century and building continued until the 14th. The Tower carries the name of Matus Cak, a Slovak historical figure and it is today, one of the symbols of the city. In the renovated castle exhibitions, medieval music and shows are organized as well as, classical and folkloristic concerts. The castle is opened to the public also at night.
