Photographer's Note
I celebrated New Year with a walk to the top of Stoh 1607m in the Mala Fatra mountains. At this altitude trees are usually packed in with snow and frost the whole winter. The package successfully protects them from strong wind and the coldest spells.
In the background you can see the slightly higher West Tatras.
Mala Fatra is an excellent place for Alpine Touring and from the top of Stoh you have 1000 height meters of relaxing skiing in front of you.
However being in the mountains can be dangerous, only a coupple of km away from this place a skier was killed in an avalanch the same day.

You managed the difficult light here very well and you got a truly gorgeous photo. The view out of these branches works very well here and creates an enormous depth. One cannot show the beauty of winter in a more impressive way. A photo to marvel at ...
