Visiting Dracula
I’ll post some more photos from England later on as well, but for now I’d like to show some pictures taken during my latest trip last week, when I was in Romania.
This photo was taken last Sunday in the town of Bran, which is home to Bran Castle (Castelul Bran). The castle is often called Dracula’s Castle, even though there is no clear link either to the fictional character of Dracula from Bram Stoker’s novel or to the historical figure Vlad the Impaler, who lived in the 15th century and is said to have been the inspiration for the literary character.
The castle was built near the historical border of Transylvania and Wallachia and was probably completed in the first half of the 15th century. In 1920 it was donated to the Romanian royal family and the museum inside the castle is mostly dedicated to Queen Marie (1875-1938).

a curious architecture, in some aspects looks a mix of elements we remember the other ones, and at same time it is so different. excellent image showing it as an imposing structure.

Hallo Lars,
Ik was maar ιιn maal in Roemeniλ en alhoewel ik op die reis ook in Brașov was, heb ik dit kasteel toch niet bezocht. Tja, misschien wel vreemd.
Het pad leidt ons mooi hogerop en naar het zicht van het kasteel dat op de rotsen gebouwd werd.
Van hieruit gezien, is het een oninneembare vesting.
Mooi contrast tussen licht en schaduw.

Hej Lars,
Det var en φverraskning att du just varit i Rumδnien. Det mεste ha gεtt fort. Jag var hδr ocksε men det var sε mycket turister att jag inte ens orkade trδnga mig igenom folkmassorna fφr att se hela slottet. Frεn den hδr lεga vinkeln ser vi bara nεgra fε personer, precis lagom fφr att ge lite liv εt bilden. Det δr onekligen ett imponerande slott i en vacker omgivning, sε det δr lδtt att fantisera ihop Dracula-historier hδr.

Wow you are making plenty of new trips! This is a very photogenic destination here which I know only from photos so far.
Very nice angle at the castle with the footpath well leading the eye to it. Nice asymmetrical composition. You seem to have had a great weather. Very nice light and natural colors.

Hi Lars,
A good view of this castle perched on the rocky hill. The sharpness and colour are excellent. A good point of view shows us the steep path up to the castle as well as the castle looming above. Looks like an interesting castle.

Hello Lars, the approach to the castle looks particularly steep, and emphasises the position of the castle on the rocky outcrop.
The architecture is unusual.
You managed a good angle for the shot with the castle framed by the trees.

In this splendid composition Dracula's castle looks magnificent and nothing dramatic, when I visited it it gave me another impression because it was a very gray rainy day with some fog, it seems different to me.
Sharpness, lighting and color very well managed.

Nice upwards view to the castle, Lars, the edifice built upon a giant rock which part is clearly dominates the foreground while climbing the trail.
Fine outcome, especially contrast from shadows to lit part.
