New cafιs are opening their doors in Lipscani area.

Lipscani area in what is now called "old Bucharest" was a commercial center of Bucharest between the 15th and 18th centuries. Nowadays it is slated for a revival, and new shops are slowly replacing the old-fashioned ones of the Communist era. Still, some wares are still sold in the streets, as they were in the days of old. The buildings are also being renovated; gems of Neoclassical, Baroque, Art Deco and Eclectic architecture which have withstood the passage of time will be appreciated again for their French-style architectural statements now partly obliterated by run-down facades.

In the vicinity of Lipscani area lie the Church of the Old Princely Court (mid-16th century), Manuc's Inn (1808), one of the places where merchants sought accommodation, and Stavropoleos Church (1724), a beautiful example of Late Brancovan style.
