The Rucar-Bran touristic area

This picture was taken in one of the most pictoresque locations in Romania. It is situated between the Bucegi Mt. and Piatra Craiului Mt. at over 3000 ft. altitude. The pictoresque mixture of tall hills, dense forest and peasant lodges, with winding roads traveling through dispersed villages, conveys the region a unique character, which makes it the perfect place for a photo trip.

There is a great variety of accomodation and food available in the villages situated along the main road, with plenty of hotels, hostels, restaurants and pubs. Also, local peasants sell different traditional home-made products which could be very tempting to the strange visitor. Another popular destination is the Bran Castle, also known as Dracula's Castel, which dominates the surroundings from the top of a steep rocky hill. I highly recommend this area for a photo trip. There are plenty of subjects waiting to be shot.
