Photographer's Note
This is one of the many outdoor sculptures made of granite found in Alpalhão, a village of the Nisa district (concelho in Portuguese). One of the main economic activities of the area are granite quarries, so it makes sense that they organise a art and music festival every two years focusing in the use of stone in decoration and art. As far as I know, these sculptures come from those festivals.
I don't know the name of the author of the sculpture, but someone told me that it represents a female wolf.

Talvez. E do sexo feminino? Certamente.

hi Jose
Such interesting sculpture in stone. Somehow the curves of statue and the top of hill go well together in your pov here. Purely art, not spiritual in nature?

Bonjour Jose,
Regards.

Bom dia Jose:)
Very interesting sculpture, looks so original and modern. It looks like abandoned one on the empty planet:)
Superb colours of the sky and really great, so clear white. Very well shown. Good job!

You know I'm going to like this one best as it is off-centred and has space in front of the way it is facing. The other one placed like this is too busy in the background. I think the plain sky as background from the low POV works the best. I like your dedication investigating all the compositional possibilites. Granite can't be an easy stone to sculpt either. Btw pets are not allowed on TE ;D
Well done

Hi Jose,
The blue plain background is just perfect to showcase the sculpture. I like the texture of the granite in the foreground leading towards the sculpture. Well captured and composed with very good image quality. Well done! tfs

I like this presentation of the granite against the blue sky. Well placed, good exposure, sharpness and on the sculpture and rock below great textures. Looks more like a horse I think?

What a nice sculpture and you captured it really well. It stands out nicely against the blue sky. Good rather low POV with the stone in the foreground leading the eye nicely into the photo. Good placement of the sculpture on the right hand side too. Thanks for sharing!

MarieLouise.

A female wolf made out of granite...
Like the wolf which fed Romus and Romulus, her breasts are ready to feed the land and history.
Stone on stone, the world does rock, a single crack will blow the rock.
And your stonefull photo rocks! The untouched granite, and the one, after the artist's touch. Like this photo of yours...
Cheers,

A nice picture from simple minimalism subjects but i like the contrast between the sculpture and the superb blue sky and i think this has the best position rather than the ws's picture, this kind of colours combination which i like to add the white border to frame it, nevertheless i still enjoy this shot Jose.tfs

Really strange and well composed (I mean it was hard to figure the size out, before opening the 2nd ws). Interesting textures (especially on the rock) and strong effective contrast. You made a lot with afew stuff !
