Photographer's Note
Another one of this baroque/rococo palace, once a property of the Portuguese royal family. What exists today was built in the middle 18th century, replacing a more ancient palace.
The statues on the fountain are older than the actual version of the palace. They came from another older palace that was renovated in 1770 and are supposed to be a work of Bernini or one of his disciples, Ercole Ferrata. Bernini is famous for his architecture works in several churches and fountains in Rome.

A lovely architectural photo. The building is just superb and your photo shows us the detail and workmanship well. The image is beautifully clear. What a magnificent fountain.

Not very easy conditions that you encountered here, Jose. The background is quite busy and distractive form your main motive. Also the light conditions are rather soft and it would require more contrast between light and shadows to work out the rich details on the sculpture. Havind sais all this I still think it is a great shot and I like it.

Olα Josι,
excellent detail capture of the palace fountain. The sculpture remind me to Neptune (for the latin version). And yes, he is wearing a trident (visible in the wider pov).
A lot of details in this scenery are visible but also the background is attracting. Therefore it is a bit work for the eye to follow the sculpture in the upper part. But why not to challenge the viewer a bit?
TFS and cheers, Ulf

It looks like some fountains in versailles palace. maybe architects from the same school. I like the tones of the walls of the building behind the fountains, it makes a really good compsotion.

Hello Jose,
Very impressive fountain and architecture in the backdrop. Well framed, we are close enough to see all the detail of the fountain showing off the intrecate work it must have taken to create this masterpeace. The only critique I would say is the fact that the background is the building, we have a supperposition of two highly detailed elements, and I find we would need something to seprate the two to appreaciate them more. I don't know, some greenary or something. Still a beautiful composition!

You have some lovely photos from this place. I like this close view of the fountain's statues, and of course the palace provides an excellent background to it.

Nice detailed capture! This remarkable fountain is worth capturing it.
You may crop the top to concentrate on the fountain.

Olα, Josι! O monumento, diante do palαcio, compυe um conjunto muito bonito, bem apresentado por vc nesse recorte. Gosto dos tons, que de complementam em gradaηγo, do mais claro, nas paredes, ao mais escuro, no monumento. Abraηo, amigo! Miguel.

such a busy statue on the busy background .. tough to bring that statue out .. you did pretty well on it .. the grounds between help .. on the other hand the combination of the statue and building really really emphasizes the time period. .. and using some blur or ridiculously small aperture would lose that.
take care,
John
