Photographer's Note

The ants are making nests in the planting medium. This messes with the roots. There is a good possibility that the ants are aphid ranchers. The ants eat the aphids' excreted "honeydew," which is a sugar concentrate from the plant's sap. If they are not ranching, they are getting food from another source and that probably has something to do with the garden.

Hola manuel: Muy buena la imagen sobre todo por que la hormiga (objeto) hace muy bien de acento dentro de la imagen general (la hoja ) es una fotografia muy buena, saludos.

Technically I think this is a better shot than the butterfly one. The ant, the shadow and the leaf are well focused and so sharp, while behind the leaf is blurred.
However you know what I think of creepy crawlies; ants are marginally better than spiders though. :)

Cada nueva foto de macro que publicas me sorprende mαs.
Ιsta es fantαstica, tiene una definiciσn y un enfoque realmente asombroso. Se pueden apreciar los pelillos y filamentos de la hoja, y los detalles mαs pequeρos de la hormiga.
Colores muy bien saturados.

It's amazing how some of the most simple photos can also be the most impressive. This pic supports that theory. The colour of the leaves is so incredibly vivid, the contrast between the ant and the leaves makes the image very eye catching, and the short depth of focus puts the viewer's attention directly on the subject. This is really GREAT photography.
