Photographer's Note
The coast of Algarve is famous for its beautiful beaches surrounded by the photogenic orange-colored cliffs. In fact, the orange rock formations are mainly to be seen in the western part of Algarve, while in the east flat sandy beaches without cliffs are more prevalent. The most beautiful sandy beach which I have seen in the east was near the town of Tavira.
Tavira’s most popular sight is probably the ancient Roman Bridge (in this photo). Interestingly, the “Roman Bridge” was supposedly built not in the time of the Roman Empire but later, in the 12th century, when Tavira was a part of the Moorish kingdom.
The word Tavira comes from this period as well, in Arabic tabira means "the hidden". Of course, the name Algarve also originates from its Moorish past, in Arabic al-gharb means ”the west”.

Fabulous view, Mariusz.
the shadows underr the bridge arches and their reflection over water is one attractive object on the picture. Than, looking above I found beautiful whaite facades in same style - but each has its own special design.
Excellent outcome.

Ah yes, Tavira is such a charming town. Excellent captured of the arches of the bridge and the lovely small buildings behind it. You handled the exposure of the white walls really well. Also the reflections are very attractive.

Hello Mariusz,
Although I travelled from the east to the west of Algarve at the time, I also skipped this place.
You really have visited other places. I remember Lars also showed a picture of it not too long ago. Apart from that, Tavira was completely unknown to me.
Suddenly I remember a town I've been to. My guidebook recommended visiting Olhγo as there were beautiful houses in traditional architecture with Moorish influences. But for some reason I couldn't find a neighbourhood with houses with a Moorish influence anywhere.
So I left Olhγo disappointed. Have I not explored this town enough? I don't know anymore. It was so long ago. Only the name Olhγo associated with disappointment has remained in my memory...
Perhaps you've been there and have found beautiful architecture.
Here you present us a great view of the ancient bridge with beautifully whitewashed (!) houses behind it. The white facades are nicely reflected in the blue river.

Ciao Mariusz,in fact, even the architectural style is not typical of Roman bridges, and you understand why by reading your interesting notes. I stayed in Tavira for a couple of days before heading back into Spain. Nice reflections and good repetition of the arches. I walked across this bridge many times. Fantasric light and sharpness too. Tfs!

Hello Mariusz,
The Hidden West is a good name for The Algarve, though it is far from hidden now!
The bridge is a beautiful feature, in a very romantic way, as it crosses the water, with the most lovely, shimmering reflections cast into the water. It is interesting to see the figures, searching beneath the arches!
The array of pale buildings makes a most interesting background, with red roofs and palm trees as additions.

A wonderful composition of this city, which I seem to remember was one of the ones I liked the most in this area, here the bridge with its reflections in the water is an important point, although the line of houses in the purest Portuguese style is also charming .
Magnificent color that gives a lot of chromatic richness to the image.
