i an not always a fan of selective colour but here i think you nail it very well! A great composition mixing the contemporary and the old - very nicely done and toned.

Les trams de Lisbonne sont toujours de bons sujets pour le photographe. Ici la désaturation partielle met en évidence les couleurs de ce symbole de la ville.

Hi Filipe,
for me this photo looks like a part of a movie. As already mentioned the situation seems to be very dangerous due to the expression on the woman's face. I like it very much because of its' dramatic colours and the excellent perspective!

Excellent framing making good use of compression effect of telephoto. of course also decisive moment. It's a surprise that the driver in monochrome stand out more than ad in color.

Bom dia Filipe, obrigado pela dedicação. Esta é talvez das ruas mais fotografadas com eléctricos. A longa curva com inclinação acentuada faz perspectivas muito fotogénicas. Por outro lado custa muito mais a subir como se pode ver pelo ar cansado da 'menina' ;-) que é obviamente uma boa inclusão. Não sou muito apreciador de desaturação parcial mas acho que fizeste um bom trabalho aqui.
Aproveita bem o sol de Domingo :)

p.s.- hoje sou capaz de fazer só um passeio a pé lá mais para o final da tarde, para experimentar o zoom que me pareceu dar resultados surpreendentes - fotografei a lua cheia da minha varanda...

You really framed nice balance between the conductor and the walker, detail is superb as well. Somehow the transition from sepia to yellow is a bit jarring to my taste.

Não sabia que a Gwyneth Paltrow, uma das estrelas louras minhas preferidas, tinha estado em Portugal... :D Nem que tinha engordado. :D

Está muito bem caçada (não me refiro só à loura :-). Aproveitaste bem a fotogenia da rua, aquela curva dos carris e a inclinação são uma tentação para experimentar imensos PdV's. A saturação parcial fica especialmente bem aqui.

Curiosamente, acho que uma das poucas viragens a sépia que fiz em papel é uma foto desta rua, que conheço bem, pois no meu 1ºano em Lisboa passava quase mais tempo nas Belas-Artes do que no Técnico, e como morava perto do castelo, o 28 era o "meu" eléctrico.

Wonderful technique of mixing the sepia and brilliant yellow colors of the wonderful old street car.

I agree with Kev that in this particular case the partial desaturation/sepia works well to focus the attention on the tram, and I quite like the overall result that reminds me of graphic novels. I especially like the curving rails that lead the eye deep into the photo. I might prefer that the woman in the foreground would be in focus, but that's a personal preference. interesting work.

Olá Filipe. Excelente foto. Gosto bastante da opção pelo sepia e do serpentear da linha do belly shrinker saindo do canto inferior esquerdo. O chão molhado, ao que me parece, fez um efeito bem bonito na calçada e o amarelo sobressai lindamente. Well done. Paulo

I was fortunate to spend a bit of time in your country,
Cascais, Lisbon, Algarve,Fatima and the place that had me
gasping for breath was Madeira all the way down to Funchal.
What beautiful country you have.
Lisbon had me fascinated with its winding streets and ancient buildings, and your shot really takes me back to pleasant days.

Hi Filipe,
Good pov to show a train raising up the slope, well captured to show not only the walking people, even also the driver and the people on the advertising poster.
I also do not like people inside my photos, I make photos with including people for TE posting, and I make another copy at same pov without people for myself keeping.

Hello Filipe,

I must admit, I think the addition of people to a shot, especially in urban scenes, adds a lot to the vitality and the context of the scene.
This is a great view of the front of the tram, with a clear view of the driver. It is sharp and detailed. If the driver was looking at the lady, then we would have a drama on sceen. He would look as if he was trying to run her down!
I like your use of partial desaturation to emphasise differnt areas.

eu não gosto muito de sépia mas aqui o efeito ficou muito bonito com a faixa publicitária em cores. o homem e a mulher estão absolutamente perfeitos na cena. lindíssima imagem. gostei do enquadramento da rua, as curvas dos trilhos, a luz e tudo o mais. brilhante , quase uma obra prima

Hi Filipe, great sharpness and POV, and a nice experiment with colour. The sepia treatment reinforces the atmosphere of "old" Lisbon, while the colourful tram advert provides sharp contrast. Great shot!

j'aime beaucoup cette photo ou l'on perçoit l'effort de la dame qui monte la côte tandis que le tram passe juste à côté avec le conducteur qui à l'air nonchalant, belle représentation de la vie de tous les jours.

Hi Filipe, usualy i don't like of heavy PP but here you made a great work using the sepia and still keep the color of the tram. Perfect how you catch the expression of this women climbing the steep streets of LIsbon in combination with the expression of the tramconducter!!

Except for the Peak Tram, none of the tram routes in Hong Kong are as steep as this one. And by the look on this woman's face, that is probably a good thing too!

You made the right decision to include her in the shot. I also like your use of colour - making the tram look like the most modern element of the whole scene.
