Photographer's Note
Just a simple shot of a housefront in Belem.
You can see these blue-tiled houses all over Lisbon, but I thought this was an especially fine example. These tiles are known as azulejos due to their blue colouration.
I liked the slight air of decay of the weathered housefront; it gives the building character.

This photograph is like a line drawing by an artist washed with watercolor! Very nicely done. Would have been better if you catched it when the sun is heating it at the front.

Hi Ben,
A nice example of portuguese colonial architecture, great colors and sharpness, good POV and very little lens distortion!
As Andre says, it might have been better with direct sunlight
Well done

Hi Ben
I liked the details of the Belem's house, and there're much of then..
Good DOF, POV colours and sharpness, i just think that the house became a little dark (at least in my monitor) so I did a WS.
well done.

Hi Ben,
this is wonderful house, I like it. So tender little house ;)) and so romantic. But when you look better, you see that everything is falling apart... I'm so sorry for this, but for this fact it really seems like a drawing.
Have a nice day,
Tomi

Hi Ben,
Nice shot, I like such old houses with a soul. I can see that it was a very strong sunlight but You did it very well. Good cropping and great contrast with the deep blue sky.

Hi Ben
Wow, I`ve never seen an example of decay who could have liked me so much, this house is simply delicious!!!!! Do you know why lisbon started to use tiles so much? As far is I am concerned, it happened after the earthquake, it was an inteligent way of improve some facades.

Hi Ben,
Very interesting narrow building. tiling on the walls, window shades and rough balcony floors give a weird impression that the whole house has turned inside out. Excellent sidelight, you were almost late with this one.

This is an extraordinary looking house Ben, well worth the posting. The shape and the tiles add great detail and interest to the image - I just think it lacks a human figure somewhere - perhaps on the balcony. Still, a very good photo. Cheers,
Ryno

Hi.
Just a beautiful shot of a beautiful history...
Great colours (green gutters are a good idea), patterns alike those on porcelain. It brings good, warm memories of the past, of the childhood.
Sun giving shadows to many elements.
Everything here is so positive :-)
I've seen tiles all over Baixa, but I haven't seen the ones you present..there's still so much to see in Lisboa.
I WILL find this building :-)
TFS.
Best regards,
Luiza
