Photographer's Note
Mr. Dutch Tourist here wouldn't mind living in the beautiful Pena Palace in Sintra. He certainly has the pose to fit the place and fill it with his joyful presence.
The three pages faithfully await his next witty jest so they can laugh out loud and possibly even riposte with something even funnier.
Altogether, these guys and the other ten or twelve that came with them - a Student Hall's yearly trip abroad - were the life of the party at the Palace that afternoon.
He didn't know he was getting his picture taken - I wonder if he could have posed any better if he did...

Hi Peter,
Nice daily life scene and interesting story behind it. I like the contrast between well captured young man and the palace in the mist behind him. This contrast is additionally stressed out by fading colour of the facade.

Nice catch, Peter. Every traveler is Ozymandias for a moment, or perhaps the one who returned to tell about him. Same difference. A shot that captures both the delight and the disagreeable nature of tourism. -Hugh

Great composition and good management of available light. Look and the main actor's face and you'll understand why. You caught a great pose from him and seeing the rest of the gang in the background also provides a great depth to this one. Really cool!

Excellent, Peter! To shoot someone so close, so clear, without him having an inkling of your motivation is pure delight, isn't it? Or, I might wonder, perhaps he DID notice you? Perhaps he just wanted to pose without letting you know, so his graceful body language might come across as his natural way of standing? ;-) We will never learn, and that is good. What is also good is your point of view, the inclusion of both the group of friends and that beautiful palace behind. Love your note too!

i was unlucky when i hit the dor of the palace 10 minutes after it was closed...unable to see its beauty....
love this view here, i can imgine that this man in awe represents perfectly the reactions of the visitors to the place...
and that fog makes the difference...

Fantαstico aproveitamento da luz e grande oportunismo da Pose do "Camone"...depois a cτr do Palαcio e os seus recantos fazem o resto...bem visto.

Yes, for anyone that understands architecture the Pena Palace is good to cheer up, with it's blend of styles gets close to the kitsh: Therefore his expression is very appropriate :)
I love that yellow and the foggy atmosphere.
