Photographer's Note
You may not agree with me, but the elaborate exotic decorations of this cloister made me think of Gaudi designs in Barcelona. Of course, the Manueline architecture is more than 300 years older than Gaudi.
My previous photo showed a detail of this cloister but I thought it would be good to show these elaborate decorations in a wider context so I decided to share one more picture of this magnificent cloister here.

Great angles and good light again, Mariusz. This beats Gaudi so easily it's not really a comparison for me. (Plus it's a lot older too.)
Ah...Portuguese monasteries like this one or Mafra or Batalha...wow! I wonder if you've read the novel "Memorial do Convento" by Josι Saramago, one of my all time favourite authors. In English it is called "Balthasar and Blimunda". If not, it is highly recommended.

Another example to the exquisite design inside the Mosteiro dos Jerσnimos, Mariusz, this was taken at the inner yard arches surrounding.
Origion of these Manueline architecture style is nowadays a major study in the Batalha monastery school within its premises.
Excellent details on the outcome.

Hi Mariusz,i agree with your words and your title, there aren't the rainbow colors of Gaudi there, but the forms reminds a lot his style, another magnificent capture from the monastery, a great mine for photographers as i can see! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Mariusz,
The decorations are intricate and abundant.
Every single surface abounds with wonderful carvings.
I like how you have used the angled wall in the f/g as a very effective guide.
My warm regards,
Bev 😊

Hello Mariusz,
Frankly, I have never seen a connection between the Manueline style and Gaudi.
I like both but Gaudi presupposes more fantasy, I think.
The Manueline style arose from the experiences of the Portuguese during their great voyages of discovery.
You have found a nice spot on the first floor to take an exemplary photo showing the architecture and its multitude of decorations.
This is exactly as I remember the Mosteiro dos Jerσnimos.
Best regards, Paul

mariusz
gaudi was very inspired by gothic architecture and mixed it with organic shapes creating something new.this is the reason you can find some similar points between these two architectures. sometimes the old art can be so modern as the ancient and primitive greek sculptures, much more modern than Picasso, who was inspired by them.
take care

Hi Mariusz,
I wouldn't say this reminds Gaudi in my eyes, but of course he also took impressions of buildings from former generations. But this looks awesome anyway. And you chose a good angle to show details on this corner.
