Hi dear TE friends

The light conditions wasn't the best. I had strong light in the walls of the Monastery in foreground and lack of light in background. Anyway i like the POV and post it

The Jerσnimos Monastery is usually referred to as the jewel of the Manueline style. This exclusive Portuguese style combines architectural elements from the Gothic and from the Renaissance periods, joining them with a royal and naturalist symbology, that makes it unique and honourable.

In 1496, King D. Manuel I asked the Holy Sι for permission to build a large monastery on the banks of the river Tagus. The works started in 1501 and almost a century later everything was done. D. Manuel I and his descendants were buried in marble tombs located in the chancel of the church and in the transept lateral chapels.

Dedicating the monastery to the Belιm Virgin was another factor that influenced the royal decision. The Jerσnimos Monastery replaced the church of Saint Mary of Belιm where monks of the Christ Order gave assistance to sailors passing through. For this reason, D. Manuel I chose the monks of the Saint Jerσnimo Order whose functions were to pray for the soul of the king and give spiritual assistance to the sailors that left Praia do Restelo in discovery of new lands.
Because the monastery was built on the sand banks of the river Tagus, the great earthquake of 1755 had little effect on the structure.
In 1907 it was declared a National Monument and in 1984 it was classified Cultural Heritage of all Humanity by UNESCO.
There remains a lot to be said about this monument, but I leave you with one final word... AMAZING!

Atι acho que estα muito boa porque tens muita definiηγo na parede do mosteiro e depois nγo foste para a parte da igreja que ι a mais conhecida e em que o trabalho na pedra ι tambιm mais intenso. Quero dizer, gosto que tenhas mostrado uma parte menos conhecida. O cιu estava carregado mas deu tambιm para preencher bem aquele espaηo.

Realmente ι uma das maravilhas de Portugal. Apesar das condiηυes difνceis de iluminaηγo, fizeste um trabalho belνssimo. O POV mostra como ι grandioso este mosteiro. A palmeira inclinada dα um toque particularmente artνstico e que dizer do cιu... estα divino. Captaste muito bem estas cores, que tomaram tonalidades belνssimas na escassez de luz.

It seems like an disadvantage , the loss of light at background, but in my opnion, gradually decreasing light givin a more mysterious ambience, perspective is excellent, successful blue hour shot,

yes you are right,there is a very good POV,and the light of the foreground shows very well the superb architecture of the monastery!The blue sky is wonderful,and the contrast with the lightened walls very nice!I just wonder if the sharpness could be improved!Anyway,the colours are so beautiful,that it's very nice to look at this picture!Very well done!

I like the enlightenment of the yelow gold colour of the building.

Hello Aires,

I notice the fine repetition effect in the architecture!
The composition has fine lines and a good sense of depth, the low light exposure is well done and gives sharp fine details...
Attractive colour palette and it is wise to include the palm tree as a balancing element!

The dark blue of the sky and the golden tones on the walls make a nice color combination, and the side POV ofers a long and deep perspective. I don't mind it being a bit dark in the BG, it is OK to me and makes nice silhouettes...

Esta foi tirada na vιspera da inauguraηγo da expo do Keribar, nγo foi? Acho que nos falaste nela.
Ι uma belνssima "hora azul", a luz quente dos holofotes faz um lindo contraste com o azulγo do cιu enevoado. Sσ ι pena que o fundo estivesse tγo escuro, mas claro que disso nγo tens culpa. O PdV e enquadramento estγo muito bem.

You did a great job here! Using the maximum of exposure compensation (+5) of the camera you gained a very good result! Although the light was difficult to be handled you managed it very well! The sky is so attractive as well as the architecture and the perspective created!
