Photographer's Note
This is the building of the main central archives of the Portuguese government. The origin of its name comes from its first location - from the 14th to the 18th century, the archives used a tower (torre) in Castelo de São Jorge (St George's Castle [wikipedia, te: 1, 2]), near what used to be one of the main residences of the kings. To those who speak Portuguese the name sounds odd, as 'tombo' means 'fall' in modern Portuguese, but it used to mean also 'archive'.
The archives are in this modern building made for it since 1990.
Only the Portuguese site of Wikipedia has any relevant info on the place (*).
On the WS: a wider POV showing a bit more of the building.

lovely graphism you present us here jose... i like the vertical and diagonal lines rising up to the blue... and that "statue(?)" up there adds a lot to both the building and the shot i think... reminds me of the artwork of the central/south american civilisations...
all the best

Hi José,
You chose a great POV for this photo. Interesting to see only one decorated part on the otherwise empty walls. The light and blue sky are enhancing.

Lars

Hi Jose,
Wow, what an unusual building style, I do not think I have ever seen something quite like it. The shapes and angles all combine to form quite an aesthetically pleasing view. Of course this is helped by the blue sky overhead; I am sure it would look a little plain had the sky been overcast, you had to rely on that contrast of color to make it work - and I believe it did. The sharpness is very good, the edging between the structure and the sky is definite and without grain. I am guessing that water would spill from the mouth of that gargoyle-like sculpture if it were to rain. Thanks for this artistic post.

Hi Jose,
That's an interesting structure, what is it? a fish or something? The colors are really nice here, especially the blue. Nice and sharp.

A modern architecture image but with a specially balcony statue.
I see two proctucts in the different facades, the big with architectonic concrete and the wall to the right I think Rose Aurure marble.
The vertical lines of the concrete plates care for more atmosphere in this picture.
Very well composition, thanks for sharing.
Have a nice sunday,
John.

Bom trabalho, Cumprimentos, Daniel

'tombe' also means 'fall' in French. Good sharpness, & a superb blue sky. I like the symmetry between the 3 angled corners. Tfs!

Bravo.

Olá José,
very clear lines and forms. A mixture of material and also a mixture of decoration. Or better to say, a mixture if there is some decoration or not? The workshop helps and shows a bit more. A strange construction in my eyes captured with good contrasts, sharpness and a nice blue sky.

It is certainly a very unusual building; so plain but with the quite ornate gargoyle. Is that a naked person carved over the face? It looks like the cheeks of a bare bottom. ;D I also like the WS and think I prefer it to the main post. The framing by the trees makes an interesting image, although the detail on the gargoyle is less noticable from further away. All-in-all a good presentation.

Olá José,
Prefiro o WS, menos abstrato.

hi Jose
What made you choose this shot? More architecture or the statue?
For me, the reasons will be
.blue sky
.clean architecture lines
.small box windows
Portugal is very far but it is such interesting place. There is some Portugese influence in Malacca of Malaysia?

Hola Jose.

Simples e bonito. Conheço o prédio pois fui lá pesquisar genealogia familiar
